20. Hagrid's Tale

Lilly's POV
Harry and Ron sprinted up to the boys' dorms to change and grab the Invisibility Cloak. Hermione ran up to her room to grab some warm clothes. I had just changed into a jumper, a cloak, jeans, boots, gloves, a scarf, a hat, and I decided to wear contacts in order to actually see. They raced down under the cloak, there was no room so I had to be invisible, but it was okay because Ron was so tall that he had to crouch in order not have his feet showing.
We knocked on the door and Harry called, "Hagrid, it's us!"
We could tell Hagrid was pleased, he said, "Bin home three seconds, out of the way Fang, out of the way, yeh dozy dog!" Hagrid appeared and Hermione and I let out a shriek! Hagrid had so many cuts on his face, he was limping and I think he had a few broken ribs!
Harry, Hermione, and Ron kept bagering him.
Hermione mentioned giants and Hagrid said, "Never known kids like you four fer knowin' more'n yeh oughta. An' I'm not complementin' yeh, neither. Nosy, some'd call it. Interferin'."
He admitted to looking out for giants, Ron said, "Come on, Hagrid, tell us what you've been up to! Tell us about being attacked by the Giants and Harry can tell you about being attacked by the dementors-" Hagrid chocked on his drink and dropped the piece of dragon meat that was on his face. He growled, "Whadda yeh mean, attacked by dementors?" Hermione asked him wide-eyed, "Didn't you know?"
"I don' know anything that's been happenin' since I left. I was on a secret mission, wasn' I, didn' wan' owls followin' me all over the place - ruddy dementors! Yeh're not serious?"
"Yeah, I am, they turned up in Little Whinging and attacked my cousin and me, and then the Ministry of Magic expelled me -"
"WHAT?"
"- and I had to go to a hearing and everything, but tell us about the giants first."
"You were expelled?"
"Tell me about your summer and I'll tell you about mine."
Hagrid finally agreed, he and Madam Maxime took a month to get there. They couldn't use a Portkey because everyone is being watched. They went to France to make it seem like they were going to Madame Maxime's school and they couldn't use magic because Hagrid can't legally use magic. They found them easily and gave gifts for two days, but then the giants fought and the chief they befriended was killed. After that, Madame Maxime saved Hagrid when they went back on the third day and they found out that they weren't the only ones trying to convince the giants to be on their side. Hagrid and Madame Maxime tried to convince other giants, but no one else would join the Order. Hermione asked about his mum and she was dead a long time ago, which was sad, even if she wasn't really his mother figure in his life.. Ron asked how he got those beatings and then Umbridge came here. She told him about her and wondered who else was here. Harry, Hermione, and Ron left footprints, I flew here, and she demanded to know who else was in his hut. She looked at the broken glass that was Hermione's cup (Hagrid said Fang broke it), she looked around to see if we were there, and told him she was inspecting him. Hermione and I were trying to convince Hagrid to teach us boring stuff on our O.W.L.'s, not dangerous things, we want him to stay. Hermione and I were doing the Obliteration Charm as we left and Ron said, "I dunno if you two got through to him." I said, "Then I'll go back tomorrow, I'll plan his lessons for him if I have to. I don't care as much if she sacks Trelawney, but she's not taking Hagrid!"
