In her cave, Vaishnodevi was peacefully sitting in meditation after she had left Bhairavnath way behind her. Amarsri and Srinav were also there, waiting patiently for her Leela to unfold further.
Gentle cool winds were flowing outside, the trees were swaying with the breeze, as if dancing to an orchestration of the conscious moment. But the blessed tranquility of the place was interrupted by loud footsteps and heavy pants.
Bhairavnath finally climbed to the top of the hill, following the divine aura that radiated from here. He looked around the mountain ranges, before his eyes fell on the cave, from which an austerities warmth was being emitted.
"Awashya yahi hogi woh." He muttered.
But before he could take a step ahead in that direction, Hanuman appeared before him. With serene eyes and a composed expression on his face, he looked at the agitated Bhairavnath.
"Yaha se chale jaao Bhairavnath. Jis kanya se tum shatruta mol le rahe ho, woh Jagatjanani hai. Adi-kumari hai, jisne sansaar ke prarambh se Kaumari vrat dharan kiya hai." Hanuman said calmly.
"Hatt Jaa mere maarg se !" Bhairavnath said angrily.
He took long strides towards the cave, but Hanuman swung his mace and hit the ground, the impact of which made Bhairavnath stumble backwards. Before he could compose his stance, he was wrapped in the grasp of Hanuman's tail.
The Kapi-shresht held him up as Bhairavnath struggled to free himself. Hanuman then threw him towards a tree, the foremost of tantriks whinced in pain as he held his back and got up.
But determination had still not discarded him. He lunged at Hanuman, holding his tongs. But before he could inflict an injury, Anjaneya swung his mace once more and struck Bhairav with it, causing him to fall backwards.
Bhairavnath closed his eyes and panted, his body aching extremely from the eventful journey to the mountain, and this fight.
"Itne nikat aake, mai piche nahi hatt sakta." He told himself and once again got up.
Taking a deep breath, he once again lunged at Hanuman. The mace clashes with tongs, their impact could be felt throughout the region. Bhairavnath kept trying to push Hanuman away from his path but it seemed impossible to even budge him. He grunted while Kesarinandan stood steadfast with his tranquil expression.
Hanuman then used his mace to push back Bhairavnath, but before he could hit him another time, Vaishnodevi came out of the cave, along with Srinav and Amarsri.
"Theheriye Hanuman." She said, both of them looked at her, whose face was showing subtle hints of anger. While Srinav and Amarsri had small smiles gracing their faces.
"Iski mrityu aapke haatho nahi, mere haatho hogi." Vaishnodevi said.
"Jaisa aap kahe Mata." Hanuman said and took a step back.
Bhairavnath looked at the angry goddess with an unreadable expression. Devi Vaishnavi closed her eyes, her goldenish complexion turned black, her golden ornaments turned into a necklace made of skulls.
She opened her eyes, which were red with anger. Seeing her take on the form of Mata Kali, the destroyer of all, everyone joined their hands and bowed their head, except Bhairavnath.
The angered goddess raised her trident and then threw it at Bhairavnath, beheading him in a instant. His head fell at a distance, but due to years of collected siddhi and tantrik practice, he refused to die just yet.
The Adikumari knew that he wanted to say something to her, and hence was holding onto his life. Coming back to her calm and serene form, she went to him riding her lion.
"Mata..." Bhairavnath began, "Mujhe kshama karna. Mere katuvachano aur ku-krityo ke liye mujhe kshama karna. Mujhe aapke haatho se mrityu praapt kar koi dukh nahi. Kyuki yahi meri iccha thi. Aapke haatho mujhe moksh chahiye tha." He said.
Vaishnodevi smiled as she looked at Bhairavnath with motherly compassion. She was also overwhelmed by the determination of his devotion.
"Bhairav, jaha tumhara sheesh kat ke gira hai, yaha ek mahatwapurn mandir ki sthpana hogi. Mera darshan tab tak adhura rahega jab tak vyakti mere baad tumhara darshan na karle." She blessed.
And so Bhairavnath finally breathed his last.
"Atyant sundar leela hai Devi Vaishnavi ki." Amarsri said with a smile.
Then her gaze fell upon Srinav's face, which was adorned with a gentle frown, a seed of concern sprouted within her.
"Dev ? Kya huya ?" She asked.
Srinav looked up in the sky, as if gazing at the upper realms of existence and then looked down at the lower realms. His eyes, filled with a mixture of vulnerability and warmth, then met her gaze.
"Aisa lag raha hai ki sansaar ki shaanti bhang hone wali hai. Koi toh vipada aane wali hai. Kintu iss baar, lambe samaye hetu." He said.
