Srinav stepped inside his room, his eyes were quick to fall upon Amarsri, lying on the ground over the darbha mat. Though it was evident that she was awake, her eyes were closed and resting themselves.
Srinav hesitated, observing his wife intently. He was aware of the delicate nature of the moment, for she was in the midst of her menses, a time that held sacred significance. But the other gods awaited her presence downstairs, eager to seek her assurance.
Gently closing the chamber door behind him, Srinav approached his wife. He knelt down on the ground, beside her unadorned figure. He tenderly placed his hand over her head, caressing her hair which caused her to open her eyes.
Seeing him, a small relieved smile appeared on her face. As she begun to sit, Srinav was quick to hold her upper arms and help her to a comfortable position.
"Priye, devtagan padhaare hai." Srinav said.
Listening to that a surprised expression appeared on the face of Amarsri.
"Devgan ? Iss samaye ?" She asked.
"Woh aapse milna chaahte hai. Unki chinta aap hi dur kar sakti hai." He said.
"Parantu iss sthiti mei mai unke samaksh kaise jayu ?" Amarsri asked, for she in the state of her menses was unadorned, unbathed, with untied hair and nothing but a thin saree hanging loosely over her body.
"Shankaraakshya ke karan woh chintit hai." Srinav said.
"Oh." Amarsri muttered, she fell silent for a moment, contemplating it.
Srinav offered her a tender smile before taking her hand in his. His touch was calming and reassuring.
"Woh devgan hai, priye. Mariyadit acharan ke hai." He said, "Aur waise bhi, mai toh hu na."
"Uchit hai." She said muttered.
Understanding the importance of her role, she rose gracefully from her repose. Both of them went outside the room, and came downstairs.
Hearing their footsteps, an unspoken code of respect and understanding prevailed among the devtas. With profound grace and sensitivity, the gods each removed their radiant crowns, symbols of their divine authority and power.
With heads humbly lowered, the gods averted their gaze from the luminous presence of the goddess, allowing her the privacy and space she deserved. They knew that she too would feel uncomfortable coming in front of them in this state.
As Amarsri came in front of them, she gazed at each one of them, a feeling of relief washed over her, the vulnerability she initially carried melting away. She looked back at Srinav, who with a flick of hand, summoned a seat for them at a respectable distance. Both of them got seated there, and the gods sat down.
"Rajaswala ke samaye Devi ko kasht dene hetu hume kshama kare." Indra said with joined hands, "Kintu humari chinta ka samadhaan aap hi kar sakti hai."
Amarsri leaned towards Srinav and whispered something to his ears, for she wasn't supposed to talk loudly in her menses to prevent discomfort.
"Devi puch rahi hai ki aap sabhi ko kaunsi chinta sata rahi hai." Srinav said.
"Aapke bhakt Shankaraakshya ke karan hum chintit hai. Mana woh shudh hridaye ka hai, kintu asuri vikaar use ghrasit kar sakte hai. Asuro ke liye indriya vijay karna atyant asambhav hai aur jab tak indriyo par vijay praapt na ho, tapasya ya anushthan ke fal ka durupyog ho sakta hai." Indra said.
Amarsri understood their concerns, she wouldn't blame the gods for there has been a history of atrocities committed by asuras after getting a boon. But she also had faith in Shankaraakshya who was untouched by immorality.
After thinking for a moment, she whispered something into Srinav's ear.
"Devi Amarsri ka keh rahi hai ki Indra, indriya parakhna aapka karya bhi aur adhikar bhi. Yadi aapko Shankaraakshya par sandeh hai toh aap uski pariksha le sakte hai." Srinav said.
A smile appeared on Indra's face, "Uchit hai. Sahi samaye aane par mai Shankaraakshya ki pariksha awashya lunga."

A/NIndra lenge pariksha 🌝
Btw, the main reason as to why I kept this menstruation segment in Dwapar yug and not before was to draw a comparison to the Dyut Sabha of Mahabharat. To show how a woman was supposed to be treated VS how Draupadi was treated 🙃🙃
Now I'll give you an update next week, cause Captain is exhausted from college + Exams maathe par hai 💀
