Nestled amidst lush green meadows and towering mountains, there existed a hunter village basking in the warm embrace of a sunny afternoon, in Dakshinavart.
On this particular day, a sense of anticipation tingled in the air as a renowned mystic had arrived, drawing villagers from far and wide. His reputation preceded him, for it was said that the mystic possessed wisdom and spiritual powers that could transcend the boundaries of conventional understanding.
The villagers, dressed in simple barkskins and deerskins, gathered around the central gathering space. With their sincere smiles and open hearts, they with King Nambi at their forefront welcomed the mystic, in proper accordances.
Beside Nambirajan, stood his 12 year old adopted daughter, looking at the mystic with curious deer like eyes, her dark skin illuminated by the son. Although he had many sons, she was his dearest child because he had always desired a daughter.
"Baba, kya aap sab kuch jaante hai ?" She couldn't help but ask.
At that, Nambi looked at his daughter, "Aisa prashna kyu, Valli ?"
"Puchne dijiye, Rajan. Man ki utsukta ko shaant karne dijiye." The mystic said.
Nambirajan looked at the mystic and then back at Valli, before giving her a nod of permission. Valli smiled and came in front, she extended her hand forward.
"Mujhe mera bhavishya jaanne ki utsukta hai." She said with a grin.
The mystic looked at her hand, his eyes widened in awe, for etched upon it was an intricately inscribed revelation, a prophecy woven by divine hands.
"Kya hai mere bhavishya mei ?" Valli asked.
"Mujhe toh bas tumhara vivah dikh raha hai." The mystic said.
Nambirajan raised a brow out of curiosity and asked, "Kisse hoga meri kanya ka vivah ? Koi Rajkumar ? Yuvraj ? Raja-Maharaja ya Samrat ?"
"Murugan." The mystic said.
His words hung like dewdrops in the air, momentarily stilling the ambience. The eyes of villagers widened in shock, and Nambirajan couldn't believe what he heard.
"Kaun ?" Nambi asked to be sure.
"Subramanyam Swami. Shadmukha Skand. Swaminath. Devsenapati Kartikeya." The mystic said.
Gasps of disbelief echoed through the crowd. Jaws dropped, and eyes widened in shock and awe. The villagers exchanged bewildered glances, unable to fathom the magnitude of these words.
Their beloved Valli, a mere mortal, or so they thought, bound by earthly ties, was destined to be the wife of a parambrahm deity ?
Nambi struggled to grasp the weighty prophecy followed by a gamut of emotions. A profound silence settled upon the village.
But amidst the sea of shocked expressions, Valli found solace and uncontainable elation. For she had always harbored an unshakeable devotion for Kartikeya, ever since childhood.
She had adorned his image with flowers, fervently pouring her heart out in prayers for his blessings. The idea of being united with her beloved deity ignited an effervescent joy within her soul. Her eyes sparkled with an unwavering resolve.
