"Make sure to keep the room temperature moderate, and there's soup in the fridge. The tea packets as well as the medicine are in the top drawer above the sink and--" You coughed into your mask and sighed, placing a hand over your rambling husband's mouth. (Well, mask.)
"I'll be fine, Levi. It's just a cold." You smiled at your worried husband from beneath your mask and he groaned, pressing his forehead to yours.
"I'm just worried, alright?" He hugged you tightly before slipping on his shoes, throwing his lab coat over his shoulder. "Don't miss me too much?" He rose an eyebrow at you, and you rolled your eyes, making your way back to the living room couch.
"Shouldn't that be my line?"
"Ha ha. I'll see you later. I love you." Levi opened the door and felt his heart flutter when you yelled back 'I love you too!'. Closing the door behind him, he groaned. The two of you have been married for almost a year, and he still felt the strange warmth you gave him when he met you in college. Entering the parking lot, he felt a sense of emptiness. Not having you man the radio and singing at the top of your lungs while driving was something he missed.
Jeez, Levi. You're a grown, married man missing his wife as if she was gone forever. Grow up! He thought to himself as he drove to the hospital, the thought of you filling his mind.
Upon reaching the hospital parking garage, Levi immediately pulled out his phone and pressed 1, your speed-dial key.
"Hello?" You sniffed and sneezed into a tissue, then pulled your mask back over your face.
"Are you okay? Did you eat?" Levi asked, scanning his badge. The door beeped and opened, and he nodded at a few nurses and doctors who greeted him.
"I told you- *cough* I'm fine. Yeah, I heated up the soup and brewed a cup of tea. Anything else you want to know, doctor?" You grinned, knowing very well how embarrassed it made Levi when you addressed him as 'doctor' in a teasing tone.
"Shut up," Levi murmured, entering your shared office. "Do you need anything from your desk?" Levi walked over to your 'sanctuary' and sat. He'd never really been to your side of the office, he admired it-- you, from afar. You had a white picture frame of the photo from your wedding day, a picture of you and Levi dancing in the ballroom while people sat and applauded. In another frame, there was a photo of you, Levi, Hanji, Eren, and Armin smiling in the diner nearby the University.
"No, the last thing I want to do is paperwork." He chuckled at the remark and sighed into the phone. "Miss me already? It's only been thirty minutes since you left."
"Shut up, idiot." He could already picture the grin you had on your face. A knock at the door alerted Levi, and the blonde nurse who usually hovered around you stood in the doorway. "Oh... I have to make rounds. Stay warm, I love you."
"Love you more."
"Sorry Doctor Ackerman, I didn't mean to interrupt!"
"No, it's fine. Do you have the list of rounds?" She nodded and handed Levi a clipboard, pointing to a highlighted room.
"This patient in particular needs assistance, from what the ER told me. She was admitted last night with the diagnosis of alcohol poisoning," Christa informed Levi as she guided him down the hall. He read over the patient records and groaned at the sight of the dreadful name. Petra Ral.
Levi scanned his ID and entered the hospital room, annoyed at the smirk Petra shoots him after clutching her stomach in pain. From the report, she had gotten her stomach pumped and was still stabilizing.
"Levi, baby! I missed you a lot~ You moved further away from the university!" She pouted, and Levi rolled his eyes. He pulled over a chair, keeping his distance from her.
"Sadly, I don't feel the same. But it looks like you're feeling better, so you should be prepared for discharge." Levi scribbled down a messy note and pinned it to the cork board beside the patient bed, looking down at Petra. "Anything else?"
"Actually... Yeah." In a swift motion, she tugged Levi by the arm, then pulled him even closer using his necktie. He could feel her breath that still reeked of alcohol on his face, and he gagged at the disgusting smell. He felt one of Petra's hands travel down to his pelvic area and tried to pull back, though the force keeping him down was rather strong. He couldn't assault her either, it'd have his medical license revoked. But he can't just sit back and let this-
The sound of the door sliding open surprised them, and Petra quickly released Levi from her grasps. He stumbled back and shot a disgusted look towards her, cursing under his breath.
But no matter how fast she unhanded your precious husband, it wasn't quick enough. You stood beside her bed, wearing a pair of black skinny jeans, Levi's small gray t-shirt, and the beanie he had lent you during college. He couldn't help but admire your attire. He had left the clothes in a pile beside the bedroom door, so it meant that you had grabbed whatever was closest and rushed out the door.
"Petra Ral, you're under arrest for endangering yourself and others for driving under the influence. After your discharge from the hospital, you are to present yourself in court with an explanation as to why you drove yourself halfway across the city when there was a perfectly good hospital beside the bar you were busy poisoning yourself at." You crossed your arms at the fuming ginger and grinned from beneath your mask. "Any questions?" Not waiting for a response, your grin transitioned into a serious glare. "If you want Levi, you're going to have to try a hell of a lot harder than that."
"(F/N)..." Levi didn't know how you got that information or where, but from the determined look in your (E/C) eyes he knew it was true. Is it bad that he found this jealous part of you cute? He hopes he doesn't see it often though, who knows what you'd do if she actually kissed him. (A murder.)
You begin to cough hard, and Levi quickly assesses to your needs and grabs a nearby water bottle, holding it to your mouth. You drink and wince, holding your head.
"Thanks for rescuing me, but you really should've stayed home. You're just going to get worse." Levi looked at you worriedly, and you waved it off.
"And let that thing," you gestured to Petra, "feel you up? That's my job. Plus, I received an e-mail from Christa about your new patient, so I arranged my case and here we are."
Levi smiled slightly and kissed your forehead. "Are you really a doctor?"
"Maybe?"
"Ugh, why do I ask? Come on, I'll walk you out. You need to get home and rest. Seriously. Don't get anyone else arrested today," he joked, pushing you towards the door.
Before exiting, you turned and removed your mask, sticking your tongue out at the furious ginger, who looked away angrily. You smiled to yourself, content.
You and Levi walked back down the hall, waving to familiar faces.
Christa sighed and smiled while the two of you exited the building and into the parking lot, checking Petra's name off of the patient list.
"So that's what happens when you attempt to steal Doctor Levi Ackerman from (F/N)..." Christa watched as a cop entered Petra's hospital room accompanied by a sketchy looking lawyer. "You get arrested."A/n: (1286 words)
