The girl giggled as she bounded along the grassy fields, small arms outstretched in attempt to catch the colorful fluttering figure. The slightly older boy watching over her shifted his position from under the tree, crossing his arms over his chest as he pressed his back to the trunk. He crinkled his nose as he watched the five-year-old fall down into the grass. He expected her to burst out into tears, but she only laughed as she rolled around the plush green surface. The boy rolled his eyes as he stood from underneath the shade of the tree.

"Oi, what're you doing?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow down at the little girl.

She giggled, eyes brightening at his voice. She sat up, patting the soft ground beside her. "Come sit and play with me, Levi!" she cheered.

He huffed out a breath, once again crossing his arms as he glanced off to the side. "I don't sit and play with little shits like you," he muttered.

"You're only three years older than me, Levi. And a little eight-year-old shouldn't be cussing like how you do. Especially really little boys," she said.

He shot her a glare, raising his hand to gently smack her over the back of her head. She suddenly reached out, grabbing his wrist as she tugged him down. His eyes widened as he plopped down onto the ground. "It's filthy," he said bluntly.

The girl shrugged, lying down on the grass. "But it's fun."

Levi scanned her for a moment, before finally resting beside her. She looked over at him and grinned, scooting closer. "Let me use you as a pillow, Levi," she said, placing her head neatly on his chest.

He parted his lips to protest, furrowing his brows, although seeing the way her adorable little cheek pressed against his shirt made his heart lurch. "Fine, idiot," he muttered, suppressing a smile.

A comfortable silence settled between the two, the only sounds the birds chirping in the distance. Her eyes shone bright as she stared up at the sky, tracing the cloud's shapes with her excited orbs. The young boy's steely grey hues darted over her features, smirking at the way she smiled at the simplest thing.

She suddenly turned, catching his small smile. She poked the back of his hand. "Hold my hand, Levi," she said.

He eyed her small limb, seeing her short fingers grasping out to his slightly larger ones. He almost took her hand, before pulling it away. "No," he said softly.

"Why not?" she asked, hurt flashing across her eyes.

"Because I said so," he muttered in return.

The little girl looked up at him with a concerned stare. She finally shrugged, nuzzling back into his chest. "Okay," she murmured, wrapping her arms around his torso.

He glanced down, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

"How was the movie?"

"It was awesome," she responded with a smile. He glanced down at her, nodding in approval as he slung his arm over her shoulders. She sighed, rolling her eyes. "You didn't like it, did you?" she asked, arching an eyebrow.

He shrugged slightly, adjusting his grip so his hand brushed over her shoulder as he pulled her closer. "It was fine. Just nothing of my type."

"I thought you liked horror movies," she mumbled, resting her head against his shoulder.

"They're fine. I just like action better," he said. He glanced down, seeing her brows pulls together in disappointment. He sighed, squeezing her softly. "Whatever you want is fine, I thought it was good. As long as you're happy, I'm happy."

She gave him a reluctant smile, pecking his cheek. He frowned, stopping their walk as he planted his feet on the ground. He tipped her chin up, pressing his lips to hers softly. He felt her smile into the kiss with a soft laugh until she pushed him away.

"Sometimes you're just a dork, did you know that?" she said as he draped his arm about her shoulders once again. She laughed lightly when he shot her a warning glare, sending butterflies to glide throughout his stomach. Her giggled ended when a loud clutter sounded from a dark alley they passed by. She immediately drew herself closer to him, hugging his arm tightly. "What was that?"

He rolled his eyes, gently shaking her off. "The movie's just gotten to you, it's probably just some stray cat," he said. He couldn't deny how he enjoyed her clinging so tightly to his arm, it was rather adorable. "Come on, I got to get you home. You have some morning classes, and I don't want to be the reason to make you late."

She hesitantly nodded, moving away from his side as they continued to walk forward. After a few seconds, her fingers brushed his wrist. "Hold my hand, Levi," she said softly, looking over her shoulder as she tensed up a bit.

Levi glanced down, sighing softly. "No."

"But Levi-"

"There's nothing out there, okay? You'll be fine as long as I'm here to kick some ass," he said. At her concerned stare, he gave her lips a swift peck. "Alright, let's go," he murmured, placing a hand on her shoulder.

She sighed, but smiled as she nodded. "Okay."

Levi pulled away from her lips, though only enough to see her. He wanted to remember her with this exact moment, down to every little detail.

Her elegant white dress brushed at her feet, clinging tightly to her figure to show off her glorious curves. Her hair shone with a brilliant hue, almost angelic. Her eyes were bright and shining, just like they had been when they were kids. Her lips curled into a gentle smile as her fingers brushed the nape of his neck, his hands rested on her hips.

She was undeniably beautiful.

Her lashes brushed against his cheeks delicately as he pulled her into yet another kiss, despite the crowd of people waiting to congratulate them. She pulled away with a small giggle as he tugged her away from the alter by her wrist. He couldn't withhold his smile at her intoxicating laughter and joyful aura.

"Levi, wait!" she said in between her fits of giggles. He arched a brow, pecking her lips once more at his incapability to hold himself back. At her smile, he did it again, earning a playful nudge. "Hold my hand, Levi," she said, outstretching her hand to him.

He glanced down at her hand. She had delicate nimble fingers that looked almost too perfect to be real. "No," he said softly, avoiding her gaze.

"Why not?" she said, a concerned look dusting over her features. "Don't you want to hold your wife's hand?"

"I just can't," he said, even quieter.

She scanned over his face, expressionless as usual. Although she saw a soft glint in his eyes. She finally grinned, placing her hands on his chest as she leaned up, pecking his lips. "That's okay. Let's go, I'm sure everyone's going to bombard us with questions and stuff."

Levi groaned, earning another giggle from her. "Is there any way I can just get out of here with you? Can't we sneak out the back or something, I don't want to be around people," he muttered as she tugged him along by his wrist.

"We can try later," she offered with a smile. He smirked, pulling her forward to place another kiss on her lips.

The smell of hospital chemicals was strong enough to make him want to vomit, despite being the natural clean-obsessed person he was. All around was the constant beeping of machines and the thundering of footsteps about the halls. It irritated him to the point of throwing something out the window.

He brushed a strand of hair away from her eyes, concern swimming deeply in his steely grey orbs. He ran his other hand up and down her arm in a soothing manner as she took deep breaths. The doctors on the other side of the bed ran frantically about, shouting orders to each other. Her eyes were ablaze as a gasp left her lips. Levi immediately cupped her face in his hands, running the pad of his thumbs along her cheeks.

"You're going to be okay, baby, okay? Alright? You're going to be just fine," he assured her, pressing multiple kisses to her lips.

A pained expression ran over her features as her gaze darted up, down, and around the room. "I don't think I'm going to make it, Levi..." she whispered.

His eyes widened as he gulped, licking his lips nervously. Although he somehow managed to keep his voice leveled. "No, you're going to make it, okay?"

"Levi..."

"You're going to have this child and we're going to raise it together. We're going to take it to the fields we went to as kids, we're going to take it to the movies we went to when we were in college. We're going to be a family. Just like we said, just like we promised. Right?"

"Levi..."

"And you're going to be the best mom ever, right? And you'll force me to clean up all the shitty messes just like you planned on doing, and I'll cook for you two, and I'll be a great dad, just like I promised you. Right? That's what we're going to do, okay? We'll-"

"Levi."

His gaze finally met hers, vision blurry as his unshed tears gathered in his eyes. "What?" he said softly.

"Hold my hand, Levi," she whispered.

He looked down onto the white bed sheets, seeing her pale hand reach up to brush his wrist. He took a deep breath before finally intertwining his fingers with hers, clutching her hand tightly. She smiled, a light laugh escaping her lips. "Why didn't you hold my hand before, Levi?" she asked, another giggle erupting from her throat. Despite her weak and frail form, her laugh was as strong and radiant as ever.

Levi glanced down, running his thumb along the back of her hand. "Because I knew it would hurt too much when you let go."

She was quiet for a moment, the only sound the shuffling of feet and the beeping of machines. "Now you have to let go forever, baby," she whispered.

He shook his head, refusing to accept her notion. "I can't, I can't let go," he said softly, pressing his forehead against hers. "Please don't leave me... I need you..."

The nurses attempted to do what they could, although they knew the woman's fate. Levi kissed the back of her hand, gripping it tightly with both of his large hands, afraid to let go. "I'm so sorry," he whispered.

She gave him a soft smile, running a shaky hand through his hair. "I love you," she whispered.

Hot droplets rolled down his cheeks as he pressed his forehead against hers. Only when her hand went limp he let out a choked sob.

Levi sat on the plush grass, back pressed against the trunk of the tree. The man watched the small child bound around happily in the fields, dashing after one of the colorful fluttering creatures that surrounded the meadows. She giggled as she fell on the ground, waving her arms up and down the grassy surface. Levi rolled his eyes, standing up as he approached the girl.

"What're you doing, little beastie?" he asked, sitting down next to her. He didn't mind the dirty ground as much as he used to.

"Just having fun!" she said back. Levi allowed a small smile to tug at his lips at her cheerful voice.

He glanced down as one of her chubby little hands brushed his wrist. "Hold my hand, Daddy," she said with a giggle.

Levi gulped, glancing up to his daughter's face. Her hair was the same as her mothers, as well as her adorable cheeks. She had the same smile, joyful and cheery. She had the same eyes, bright and shining through the entire day. Most of all, she had the exact same laugh. Light, but strong and powerful, full of a genuine purity strong enough to make his heart lurch with ache.

"Of course, sweetheart," he said, grasping her small hand into his large one. "Just don't let go."
