I'd take another chance,
Take a fall, take a shot for you, oh, oh.
I need you like a heart needs a beat,
But it's nothin' new,If time could change, he'd do it all over again.
If life would let him, he'd do it differently.
But he can't, and he never will.
He missed you oh so dearly. His only wish was to turn back the clock and erase all of his thoughtless, idiotic and foolish crimes against such a pure and innocent soul like yours. What had you ever done to not deserve his undivided attention and devoted adoration, and instead be lied to without any pity? He now understood he that loved you. That he needed you. You were his only last hold onto life itself, keeping him from staggering into insanity, and he did nothing but take you for granted and abuse your kindness and generosity. What kind of a man was he to do such things to a virtuous spirit, filled with so much life and energy? What kind of man would put a beautiful person such as yourself in so much pain and sorrow and torture, all to feel the simple thrill of a strangers body pressed flush against his?
Why was he stupid and naive enough to loose something so precious and dear to him? A glimmering diamond in a vast sea of charred coals, a brilliant star in the inky black darkness of the midnight sky, a blossoming ruby rose in a field of jagged and prickly thorns. You were unique, special, beautiful, and he had lost you to his unsatisfied asinine sensual desires.
Silver-tinted ashen hues flitted from the glass filled with liquor to the brim, to the shiny dark wooden counter glazed with polish and sweat from the drunkards. He lazily dragged his tongue over his dry and chapped lips with a various assortment of incisions in the peach-tinted skin. Gazing over his shoulder, he glared at the familiar faces loitering about the busy bar. The whores with far too much make-up decorating their features, the drunks with their taciturn forms stumbling about the room, too much of in a buzz and stupor to formally recognize their surroundings or use any manners they had acquired over their lifespan. He hated his life. Every single millisecond he spent without you cheerily smiling by his side, he hated it. He wanted you beside him, to hold him, to love him, to make him feel like he was worth more than the despicable human he was.I loved you with a fire red,
Now it's turnin' blue
And you say...It was almost as if you were standing right across the bar, only a few feet away. But wait... why was this hallucination so much more realistic than the past few he had? And why had every little detail and feature engraved into your visage appear so complete, so whole? Could it be that he was finally losing it, or had you suddenly popped back into his life again, possibly to give him a second chance? Deciding it was now or never, he hastily stood from his stool at the bar, holding onto the counter as he slowly approached you, as a clumsy child would to a delicate butterfly. "(Name)?" he whispered softly, gentle taping the woman's shoulder as he ran a paled hand through his onyx-raven sweat-slicked tresses. As she turned slowly to meet his wide-eyed gaze, his lips parted in awe at her radiant beauty.
Your eyes shimmered like the brightest of stars, and your skin glowed with a youthful aura. The dress you wore stuck to your form to show off all of your enticing curves and voluptuous sides. You hair was bundled into wave-like curls, framing your visage with its glimmering locks, and you barely wore any make-up for your beauty was natural and that seemed to be the best part about you. Rosy lips curling into a gentle smile, your pearly white teeth flickered in the lights above, and your brows knitted together as you recalled the familiar-looking man. Scanning your form up and down, a wave of guilt swept over his being once again, only tearing at his heart more when he saw the glorious ring that bedecked your finger.
"Levi?" you said softly in shock, lashes fluttering as you watched the man before you. He straightened himself out, puffing his pride out into his chest as once again adorned his stoic mask. "Is that really you?" you murmured, brushing the back of your hand against the soft skin of his cheek.
He shuddered at your sheer presence, nevermind the feathering touch you graced onto him.
"You look... magnificent," he murmured, willing himself not to lean into your soothing and heavenly caress. A giddy laugh escaped your glossed lips at the flattering comment, and you perched yourself on the edge of a stool. "Who's been treating you?" he muttered darkly, eyeing the diamond embellishing your finger.
You followed his gaze, a small sigh leaving your lips at the ring. Anxiously rubbing at the gemstone, you kept your eyes towards the floor as you mumbled your next words. "My... husband. He's a good man, by the name of Erwin Smith. He treats me fairly, and with respect and... he loves me."
His lips twitched into a half-smirk as he glanced away, shutting his eyes tightly. "For what it's worth..."
"Levi, no-"
"I'm sorry."It's too late to apologize,
It's too late,A lump formed in your throat as an influx of nostalgia washed over your composed figure. With your hands nervously wringing together, your orbs fluttered up to unsuccessfully meet his. "I've... tried to forget about you Levi, and I finally have, please don't pull me back into you."
"I'm not trying to-"
"Yes! Yes you are, and I don't think you understand how hard it's been for me to forget about you, do you even understand how hard it was for me to write that godforsaken note and walk out the goddamn door? I didn't want to leave you, Levi, I loved -and still do- you too much for it, but I wouldn't stand for the disrespect you gave me."
He suppressed his quivering lips in order to keep his dignity, his honor. Although he felt as if both had already diminished, remaining strong before you seemed to be his last grasp onto what little bit of pride he had left. "Come back to me," he whispered quietly, lacing his digits with you. You inhaled sharply at the familiar touch, whipping your head to the side to avoid his piercing gaze as you withheld your tears threatening to spill. "Let me love you again, I swear I'll make you the happiest person alive-"
"Just stop," you breathed, voice trembling with emotions as you glared down at the floor below.
"I made a mistake! Forgive me, I'll do anything to have you in my arms again, I took you for granted and I swear it will never happen again. Please, just give me another chance and let me love you the way you deserved to be loved. The way I was meant to love you in the first place," he said, grasping your hands desperately into his.
A steady, heavy silence settled over your two forms as you restrained your tears and took large breaths to control your ragged respiratory. You jerked your hand from his grip, standing abruptly while sending him a harsh glare. "It's too late for your apologies, Levi," you said firmly, staring at him from the corners of your watery eyes. "You were too late."
And those were your last words, before your strode courageously from him and the bar, while taking his heart with you.I said it's too late to apologize,
It's too late!A/n: (1271 words)
