Chapter 48: On the Road Again

I woke up, and the bed felt so empty. Cody had to leave yesterday for his return. He will be gone until Tuesday. That's four days he will be away. It's so hard, and it's only been one night.

I tried to get him to store me in his luggage, and he just hugged me. We have been together since before our babies were born; it's been over thirteen months without being apart for a single night.

He has been traveling to shows for a couple of weeks to discuss things with Vince and practice for his return, but those were same-day flights; he would leave in the morning and return that evening.

I miss him so much, and Jordan is gone, so it's just me and five kids for three more days. School is out, so that's a good thing.

I miss my husband, but I am glad he is returning to work; he loves his job. I know why he wants to end his contract, but he loves wrestling.

He just doesn't want to be away from us. I love that because I love him so much. He is my everything.

Jordan has been calling and checking on the kids every evening. The kids really liked his girlfriend. They said they had so much fun with her and their dad. She has returned to New Jersey since he left.

I was surprised he didn't take her with him, but he didn't. So far, I am still the only one he has taken with him.

I slowly climb out of bed and make my way downstairs. I walk into the kitchen, and it smells so good. He made my coffee before he left. He is so sweet. I grab my phone and text him.

"Good morning, babe. Thank you for making my coffee before you left yesterday. I miss you so fucking much. The bed felt so empty without you."

"Good morning, sweetheart. You are very welcome, my beautiful wife. I know what you mean; it's so hard being away from you after being with you for so long. I miss you more, baby. I barely slept because I didn't have you to cuddle up next to."

"I love you."

"I love you more."

"No way, I love you to Infiniti and beyond."

"Okay, you got me on that. You won this round. I promise I will win the next one. So, did you just wake up?"

"Yes, I wish I could just sleep until you returned. I'm gonna be so bored."

"Oh, you can't do that. It's summer break, and you have five kids to keep you entertained. Go play with them in the yard, or put on that sexy bikini and let them swim. Make sure to send me a picture of you in that sexy bikini."

"I might take the kids swimming. I can put the babies in their floats, and my other three can swim. I really can't believe how fast my babies are growing up."

"I know, they have grown up way too fast for this, Daddy. Hey Babe, I'm gonna Facetime you because I want to see that beautiful face."

Her phone rang, and she answered it; there was her handsome husband, with his sleepy eyes. Her heart started racing when he smiled at her.

"Much better; you look so beautiful with your bedhead and just waking up look."

"You look handsome with your sleepy eyes and that handsome face I can never get enough of."

"Two more sleeps and I will be back home to my family. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but I really just want to pay the fine and end my contract."

"I know, baby, but you aren't going to do that. I hate it when you have to leave, and right now, I feel like half of me is gone. We are strong, and we will make it. It will just make it more special when you are back home."

"Yes, it will, and baby girl, we are going to have some amazing bedroom time."

"When you walk in that door, I am going to be stuck to you like glue until you have to leave again."

"I like the sound of that. This is the only time we will have to be separated for this long. Vince agreed to only put me on the show every other week, so I won't have to leave every week."

"That's great news." They heard the babies on the monitor. "Here starts my day. You wanna hang on while I get them up, or do you want to hang up?"

Cody has been traveling for a month now, and it still isn't easier when he has to leave. We did go with him for one show, and the kids had a blast; it was just hard keeping the earmuffs on the babies. They kept pulling them off.

We are just taking it one week at a time. Our Anniversary is next week. Thankfully, Vince was nice and is giving Cody that week off.

Cody told me he planned a special night at home again. A repeat of last year. Jordan returns from tour in three days, so the kids are excited to see him.

Life is going good still madly in love with my husband. We have been together for three years and two months.

I just want to get past the five-year mark, and then I can say we made it. Jordan and I didn't make it together for the five-year mark. He cheated on me three months before our fifth wedding anniversary.

It's hard having two famous husbands who both travel. My ex and my current. Jordan's job is consecutive travel, and Cody's is broken up. I like that a little better.

The only thing I know is I miss my husband when he is on the road. I listened to that Willie Nelson song On the Road Again, and I made my own words. Cody laughed when I sang the words to him.

I can say this tho every time he returns home, our lovemaking is insane. Always before he leaves and as soon as he returns.

I just can't get can't get enough of him. I have never been so attracted to someone like I am Cody. Our life is amazing, and I mean that. We have five wonderful children; they are so helpful and well-behaved. I have an amazing husband and even a wonderful ex-husband. I am a very lucky woman.

Jordan and Daisy are still going strong. She will come up when he returns. He told her he wanted a few days with his kids then she could come up.

We have spent our summer in the yard playing around and in our pool. Cody bought the kids a slip-and-slide they love that. They play on the playset, the trampoline, the pool, and the slip-and-slide.

Cody definitely set them up here outside. We even bought a game for outside we can play volleyball, badminton, or there are a few other games. We normally play badminton. He also bought a pipe and made a tether ball. I love that one, and last week, we got everyone over and played kickball. That was so much fun, except I discovered I am not young anymore.

I was so sore I could barely move the next day. Sharon called me and asked me if I could stand up, sit down, or even walk. I told her barely. She laughed and said they were feeling the same way.

We laughed because they are older than Jordan, and I just don't see how he gets up there and performs night after night. Dancing and all that when I can barely walk from playing kickball for an hour.

Life is what you make it, and I think I have made mine shine. I have a lot to be thankful for. My family, my extended family, my husband, and a good life.

Cody walks in and wraps his arms around me. He has to leave tomorrow, and I am going to miss him so much, but this will be the last time for ten days. I lean into him and just melt in his arms.
