Sidra
I knew no one was inside but I just wanted to stay in his room. It made me feel calm and remember childhood memories. I missed Zaid. Even though he was my cousin, he was a brother to me. My life is just a mess. I need a button to pause everything. I felt so numb, so out of order. I wasn't going to get drunk or high. I just wanted to comforted. I went back home. Zaki was busy with some papers. He saw me coming in. “My love, I've been looking for you.” he said. I didn't have the energy to talk. I just hugged him. He stood there speechless. He didn't even hug me back. I don't blame him. We hadn't gone that far in our relationship. I actually don't know what to call us. I pulled back crying. “Sorry about your brother's death, I heard.” he finally said. I wiped my tears away and just slept on the bed. I was so tired. Tired of everything. I just wanted to sleep because its like dying but not dying. I felt Zaki's gaze on me. The next day I woke early and got dressed in white. I went downstairs, I was already just frustrated and angry. “Morning Sidra.” said mother in law.
“Morning mother in law.” I responded.
“Can you do a few things ? ” she asked. More like demanded. “Do what and why?” I asked. “Shreya will tell you and I'm very busy.” she answered. “I'm sure you are.” I muttered. She wasn't busy, I knew that. I had to go talk to my family because they were lying to me. I could do those chores later. I went back to the Palace. “So when are you going to tell me what actually happened to Zaid?” I asked. “What do you mean Sidra? He died in a fire.” answered my dad. “Right and you think I'd believe that? There was no fire, how did he die?” I asked. He didn't answer. “Sidra you're in denial, he's gone and he did die in a fire. You're trying to find someone to blame.” said Ishan. “I am not in denial! I am sick of you lying to me! I'm not crazy, what are you hiding? If no one killed him then why are all of you lying to me?” I roared. “I don't appreciate your tone Sidra.” argued Ishan. “I don't appreciate you lying to me!” I shouted.
“Don't talk to your brother like that or else.” warned my father. “Or what? You're gonna hit me? Go on hit me, hit me, hit me like you hit my mother. Go on! Hit me! Hit me like you hit her!”I shouted. He slapped me. I was trying to fight back hot tears. “I'm sick and tired of the lies in this family. It's not even a family anymore. It's poison and you're destroying one another. I don't want to be apart of it.” I said
