Chapter 15

"The elder gods have to be wrong I watched him, felt him emotionally, and spiritually leave this place" I said "I refuse to accept his being alive as much as I want to believe it" Kenshi just kept trying to make me realize I was fooled but I wouldn't accept it I eventually could feel the pain and sorrow of his death bubbling up inside me I felt the hot tears run down my face as I relived that day but I couldn't believe what I was being told so I ran and I didn't stop until I reached the family sanctuary then I slowed to a jog and made it to the small river running through the sanctuary then I fell to my knees and I pulled his ring from my pocket and slipped it on it was comforting to wear something of his when I calmed down I stood up and was about to leave when I saw a dark figure leaning against a tree with red stripes coming from his side I drew my knife incase he was hostile but when I got closer I saw a man dressed in all black wearing a carbon black steel mask with a black cloak covered in certain spots with carbon black steel but he had black hair and a pair of brown eyes then when I took a close look at his side and the edges of the mask I noticed blood from his side and his mask had blood coming from under it and he had a comforting feeling around him so I helped him I took him back to my house and laid him on the table I helped him out of his cloak and armour so I could look at his side then when I tried to remove his mask he fought back so I put the knife to his throat and threatened him then when I removed the mask I was met with the face of my husband with a long gash on his forehead down to his chin barely missing his eye he then touched my temple and suddenly I was overwhelmed with memories of my past then after it all passed he summoned a fireball and sealed his wounds burning himself in the process but I asked "How why?" He looked around then said "Well Lara I gained the ability to read minds by months of mental training I got the kids back after kicking specter ass but I was wounded so while you were out cold I altered your memories,Tobys, and Alice's but as to why I ruined your life so I fixed it and I was going to lay out there to die but then you showed up" I looked at James and said "You could never ruin my life maybe make it complicated but never ruin and even I hadn't come along you should know someone would just bring you back" I looked at James but he turned away then put his cloak and armour on leaving his mask on the table as he walked up the stairs I tried to hug him but he just held his hand out for me to stop but I just followed him he restored Tobys memories then Alice's then he jumped out the window and all I could do was watch him walk away but I refused to let him so I grabbed his spear then yelled "GET OVER HERE!" But instead he turned and grabbed the spear in mid-air and yanked it so hard I went through the window but instead of meeting the ground I was caught then when my feet met the ground I looked to see who caught me but it wasn't James it was Takeda. Kenshi was staring down James then Kenshi started yelling about how he needed to stay with me and the kids but James yelled back "I would but I have ruined her life and my life and I can't stay everyday knowing what I did" I looked at him pleadingly but he just looked at me in his eyed I could see he didn't want to do what he was doing but he felt like he needed to so I just told Kenshi to let him go but he refused and Kenshi walked closer but James just turned and continued walking Kenshi then I'm guessing tried to read James' mind but was blocked because he looked angry then Takeda went to use his whip but I jumped in between getting whipped across the stomach which hurt like hell and there was a lot of blood coming from the wound I heard James turn then I collapsed looking towards James he walked towards me then picked my head up kneeling next to me he raised my shirt enough to see the wound but what he saw enraged him the wound was fatal I could feel it the pain then my world went dark I hurt a lot and thought just one thing 'is this what death is like?'
