Once they made it to the motorway, Mackenzie felt a little less sick, still not a huge fan of horses but she was glad they had made some progress towards Atlanta. As they continued along the road, both she and Rick noticed how empty the streets were. At first, he had made the horse slow down to almost a complete stop and they trotted on in silence looking around trying to find something. They didn't. It was a ghost town.

They were getting closer and closer to the city, Mackenzie looked down at the train tracks thst were below to the bridge they were currently on.

"How long ago do ya think those were last used." She asked Rick.

"How long ago what were last used, Mackenzie?" He asked, still staring ahead.

"The train tracks down there." She pointed but quickly grabbed back onto Ricks shirt as the horse took a step forward.

"Probably 2, 3 months now." He replied "From what Morgan told me, everything was up running and fine until it just wasnt."

"Mhh." Mackenzie nodded, her dad and brother had kept a lot away from her so she wasn't completely sure how long everything had been down before they left and joined the camp.

She looked back up away from the train tracks, trying to stop herself from thinking about them, and saw a huge building it looked like a posh flat. It even had a little archway with connecting the two sides of the building together.

"Its so quiet." Mackenzie whispered, they had long passed the posh flat and were now riding past another abandoned helicopter. It had seemed to Mackenzie that there were a million in the city.

Rick nodded but didn't reply, he was looking around suprised at how much was left behind. He had assumed that everyone would have taken their cars with them, but they look deserted.

They rode past a bus that was full of motherfuckers. Neither Rick or Mackenzie noticed them at first, but then they started walking out of the bus and towards them.

"Steady. There's just a few." Rick tried to calm the horse, that had gotten spooked by the motherfuckers "Nothing we can't outrun."

"Ya sure?" Mackenzie asked, her voice sounding smaller then she wanted.

"I'm sure." He reassured, pulling the horse away from the dead and speeding up.

Mackenzie squeezed her eyes shut, trying her hardest not to look at anymore motherfuckers then she needed to.

They had ridden for a while and she couldn't hear any of the motherfuckers anymore, but she could hear birds so she opened her eyes slowly.

Once she opened her eyes, she saw two crows sat ontop of a tank. She didnt realise what they were eating until one of them started pecking at it. When she saw it, she stared at the birds with disgust groaning quietly.

"You okay back there?" Rick asked, he hadnt noticed the birds.

"Look at the birds." Mackenzie replied, her face screwed up.

Rick looked around for a moment, unable to see them but once he had he too made a "ughh" noise.

Soon after he saw it, he led the horse around the tank and away from them.

Only to hear a helicopter.

Mackenzie noticed him looking around, realising he too heard it. She had been hearing them for a while now, the helicopters, and anytime she mentioned them to her dad or brother they thought she was insane.

"Why would there be helicopters?" Her dad would ask "The worlds gone to shit- Fuck. 'm not supposed to swear infront a you.. The worlds gone down, the last thin' there'll be is a helicopter. Ya dumb fu- idiot. You off men'al?"
