Seeing könig made me more upset than I already was with him. He let out a slight chuckle, "So this is how we are now?" his German accent peeking through. I sat on the couch and avoided contact with him as I replied, "könig, leave me alone. It's all I ask." Soap sat beside me, trying to be supportive as he could tell how my mood shifted. I could feel königs eyes on me; the feeling was familiar.
As he was beginning to reply, footsteps trailed in. We all turned our heads towards the door and saw Simon, his expression emotionless. He glares, seeing könig standing in the middle of the break room; somehow, the room feels even more intense than it already was. Simon walks past könig, letting out a low growl. I looked at Soap with worry; he understood the words coming from my contact: say something, please.
He nods and springs up from his spot on the couch, "Mornin' Ghost," he spoke nervously as he tried not to be obvious about the situation. Simon skimmed Soap's face and then continued making his tea. The room fell quiet again, only hearing the sounds from the running AC. König then spoke, breaking the silence, "Rose, I will wait for you. Don't forget what we had." his footsteps trailed out of the room.
My eyes widened as those words left his mouth. I heard Simon slam his cup hard on the counter. I stood frozen on the couch and made no sudden movements; könig just exposed us. I sighed, slowly dragging my hands down my face.
Simon cleared his throat and walked out, leaving his cup on the counter half full of tea. Now I have Simon to worry about. In the moment, I wanted to break down crying, but I also had to own up to what was said. If he hears anything more from könig, he might just kill him on the spot. "Well, that changed course quickly," Soap spoke with a slight shock. He approached me and squatted down to my height, laying his hand on my shoulder softly. "I'll go talk to him, Rose." Without looking at him and still having my face in my hands, I nodded and sighed deeply "fuck.". Soap's footsteps then trailed out of the break room, and all that was left was me on the couch alone.
What the fuck am I going to do now.

After speaking with Rose about könig, I felt relieved. König and I have been long-time arch-enemies, and I didn't want him near Rose. I don't want him even breathing around her. Being with Rose has changed me in ways I never expected to change, but it wasn't a bad change, although I am more overprotective over her than anyone else.
The following day, I looked forward to seeing Rose as always. I got ready, and I headed to the break room before I had to meet with Price for a mission briefing. As I entered the break room, all eyes pivoted towards me as if they got caught in the middle of something. I saw könig looking at me; his eyes widened as I got closer to him; the sight of him just made me nauseate. The room felt intense as it was silent between all of us. As I made my tea, Mactavish came beside me, his face looking nervous or worried. He wasn't himself, but I ignored it.
Stirring my tea to settle, I heard könig speak, breaking the silence. "Rose, I will wait for you. Don't forget what we had." My thoughts instantly switched. I slammed my cup on the counter. Don't forget what we had. Those words constantly repeated in my head, but the more they repeated, the more it made me bitter. My emotions mixed with anger and discomfort. I cleared my throat and exited the break room.
Why wouldn't Rose tell me? Was that why she looked so hesitant yesterday?
I walked down the hall, contemplating if I should go after könig or wait for Rose to leave the break room to speak to her. I breathed in and out to calm myself, but it felt impossible. Walking from the other end of the hall, I saw Price. Perhaps I should ask for his opinion? I have never felt confused or lost, but it caught me entirely off guard.
I needed an explanation.

I continued to think about what had just happened; I put the pieces together. König had done it intentionally, and he still wanted to feel like he had some hold on me. "Ugh, of course he would do that." I sighed as I spoke to myself. I got up from the couch and headed towards the door, coming to a sudden stop. The next minute, I came upon könig, his tall figure hovering over me. "You will not have anyone else, Puppe Verstehen (understand doll)?" His voice becomes more husk and heavy. I looked at him with an emotionless glare and spoke, "I already do. You will not control me anymore. Deal with it." I gritted as I shoved my way past him and walked away.
_________________I walked to Simon's room; he deserved an explanation. "I knew I should have said something, Rose. Come on," I hit my hand over my head multiple times. I knocked on his door, hoping he didn't go anywhere else. There was no answer. I knocked once more, this one being a little more urgent. "Lieutenant, I need to talk to you. Please open up," I leaned my head on the door. There was still no answer.
I sighed and stepped away from his door, and thought of any other places he might be at. I didn't know him well enough to see if he had particular hangouts, but I had to think of something. Then it came to me, the shooting range.
I reached the shooting range warehouse, and there he was. He was shooting targets, and it seemed he had been for a while as multiple guns lay on the floor beside his post with empty mags. I knocked on the door as he came to stop shooting his targets. He turned his head and glanced at me for a second to turn back, "Rose, why are you here." he spoke seriously. I looked down at my feet as I knew he was upset and walked towards him.
As I stood beside him, he continued to shoot, not acknowledging my presence. "I know you are upset, Simon, I'm sorry. I should have told you when we talked about him, but I knew you would feel a certain way once I did. I just —" I spoke softly stopping mid-sentence. He put his gun down aggressively, making me slightly jump. He turned towards me, looking at me with eyes looking lifeless and emotionless, just like the first day I met him. My heart raced as his eyes looked right through mine.
"You weren't honest with me. You hid this. I trusted you enough, thinking we were getting close." his voice stayed severe, "I'm not Simon to you anymore; you lost that privilege, Commander." My heart dropped. His footsteps planted on the floor heavy as he walked toward the door without looking back.
The door closed and I was left alone once again.
