Waking up the next day, I still felt sleep-deprived. The mission took a lot out of me mentally and emotionally. Then I went to think about the moment Simon and I shared last night. It made me feel at comfort. He is my peace. I didn't know he was going to stay or even comfort me, but it goes to show I misjudged his morals.
What made him stay, though? Why did he stand there after?
After mulling over my thoughts, I decided to get dressed. There was no need for tactical gear since there was no mission today, so I wore comfy clothes. Nice sweats and a fitted shirt that shows a bit of my stomach, half revealing my belly-piercing. Throwing on some comfortable sneakers to top it off, I head down to Price's office.
Reaching Price's room, I noticed two dark silhouettes of shadows talking. Muffled voices were heard, but it wasn't clear enough to make out. Finally, the door opens and reveals Price in his chair, and Simon is about to leave; he looks up to notice I am standing there in slight shock.
"I hope you weren't standing here too long. I apologize." his voice was husked but gentle.
He walked off with his head down and left. I looked at Price with an eyebrow raised, "What was that about?" I asked.
He motioned for me to come inside his office. I closed the door behind me and sat in the chair before him. "To what I owe the pleasure of seeing you today, Rose?"
I looked down, fiddling with my hands, and then returned my look to him, "Any update on könig?" my voice soft.
"He is in stable condition. You can visit if you-"
"No, it's okay, I just wanted to know. I'm sorry for the cut-off." I sighed and stood up. "Thank you, sir," I say as I walk out.
I walked back to the rooms; I wanted to see Ghost. Ghost seemed off once he left Price's office; why? Once I reached the hallway with our rooms, I heard Ghost and Soap talking. I hid back behind the wall, hoping they didn't notice me.
"Lt, come on. You know she wouldn't do anything to hurt you. Talk to her; trust me, she misses you."
"Johnny, I miss her too. But könig is here, and now he's injured. She didn't even tell me about him until the last minute."
My face slowly fell as I heard him speak. "You need to talk to her. She's not okay, for God's sake, Ghost, do it." Soap Insisted with a bit of annoyance behind it.
I moved away from the wall, acted as if I wasn't eavesdropping, and continued to walk down the hall. They stopped their conversation; Soap looked at me, "Rose, hey." he smiled. I returned the gesture, "Hey, Mactavish,"
I stopped and looked at Simon, "Simon," I nodded. Simon stood quiet and backed away a bit.
"Any plans for the day yet?" Soap questions.
"Nope, I, uh, was going to head over to a nice spot on a hill, relax. Would you guys maybe wanna come?"
Soap looks at Simon, seemingly trying to get some nonverbal response. Since Simon wasn't paying mind, Soap rolled his eyes,
"Well, I can't come. I, er, have some work to do, but I know Lt isn't busy," Simon's attention snaps to the conversation as he hears his name and scoffes lightly.
Why was he acting that way?
Soap smacks his face and then changes to a quick smile as my gaze returns to him. I chuckled and nodded, "Okay, I'll see you in a bit." I walked over to my room, and as soon as I went in, I sighed,
"Better than nothing."
_______________It was 3 pm, and Simon and I headed to the hill. I brought a blanket and fruit, and Simon brought sandwiches and Wine.
As we reached the hill, there was a big tree, and we placed our spot under it. The breeze felt calm, the sun was bright but setting slowly, and the hill overlooked a river and a field of plants. It was beautiful.
We both sat and sipped on our glasses of wine.
"How have you been, Rose?" His eyes shined in the sun a honey Brown; I always loved his eyes. He had a soft gaze, and I blushed a little.
"I have been okay, not the best, but hanging in there." I gave a small smile.
He looked at the view, "Rose, I —" he stopped and looked down, "I miss you." he continued, his voice sounding gentle.
My heart began beating, gradually increasing by the minute. A warm sense started enduring over my body as I heard him say it to me.
I put my glass on the blanket and moved closer to him, brushing his cheek. "I miss you too, Simon." I smile warmly at him.
He places his hand on top of mine, caressing softly. He squeezed his eyes tight, and I could feel under his mask he was happy.
As his eyes opened again, his eyes were watery. "God, it feels so good to hear you say that," he sniffles and chuckles. "I'm so sorry for how I acted, Rose; I just let my anger get to me. I don't want to lose you."
I gently rested my head on his, holding his face, "You could never lose me, I promise." I reassured.
As I backed away, I traced my finger along his mask, reached the end tip, and paused. I looked at him, and he looked into my eyes, signaling it was okay.
I lifted his mask above his mouth and leaned in closer. I felt his warm breaths hovering on my lips; we were only inches apart. Slowly, I placed my lips on his, feeling his soft lips dance with mine. He put his hand on my face, gripping it gently as our kisses slightly intensify.
We both craved each other's lips, and it was well felt. Each kiss made me crave him more; it could have been the wine playing a part, but I missed his soft touch. I stop midway and look at him,
"Simon, not here." I looked towards the base and then back at him,
"shall we?" he asked, holding out his hand. I chuckle and grab his hand,
"We shall,"
