Chapter 4: The light near the lake

When the door of the bus barely opened, Amity ran out of the vehicle, leaving both Boscha and Skara in complete confusion at the bus stop, and she was almost sure she heard Boscha yell "Don't forget about the party!" Or something like that, but whatever it was it doesn't matter, she doesn't have the time to think about it.

The teenager ran through the town, dodging pedestrians and other things on her way back to the manor as fast as she could. When she arrived in front of the manor's gate, she pushed it in a loud creaking noise then ran up the hill. She quickly opened and pushed the big wooden door, entering the manor she then quickly made her way into the living room. Both Emira and Edric were sitting on the large couch in a tense silence.

As Amity walked up to them has she was panting and sweating a lot, her older sister looked up to her, "Ah..Amity there you-"

"Where's Ghost?!" Amity quickly said, cutting off her sister's sentence.

Emira stares at her younger sister, "Amity, please calm down, here you should take a seat." Emira said as she stood up and walked to the youngest.

But Amity backed away while shaking her head, "No! I don't wanna sit or calm down, I want to know what happened and where's my cat, Emira !" She yelled at sister.

Emira looked at the youngest, then hummed "Amity, please. You need to calm down, so, we can explain." She said before slowly took her younger sister's arm and made her walk toward the couch and sat down, before looking back at her twin, "Ed, go get her a glass of water." She commanded Edric, who immediately jumped off the couch and quickly walked into the kitchen.

Emira sat next to Amity who just didn't move an inch before closing her eyes and slowly taking a few deep breaths, calming herself while her brother came back and handed her a glass of water before taking a seat next to her.

Amity looked at the glass of water in her hands while her leg kept bouncing up and down, tapping against the wooden floor, "So...What happened?" She asked before taking a sip of water.

Emira and Edric looked at each other, Emira made a slight sign with her head which just made her brother frown in confusion. Emira rolled her eyes before mouthing some word that Amity couldn't hear.

"Uuh, Well, Mi- I mean Amity." Edric starts before rubbing the back of his neck not knowing what to say, "Uh, so, I promise what happened with Ghost was a pure accident."

Amity sighed, "Ed, I just want to know if Ghost is okay." She said in a sligh angry tone but remained calm.

"Well, I hope so-" He barely had the time to answer before being cut short when Emira slapped him behind the head.

Emira quickly cleared her throat, "What Ed actually meant is that Ghost is safe." She rubbed her temple, "But yeah, he's right though, that was an accident, we had just finished giving her the medication, and because it was pretty hot today, and that you know the Ac is broken, um we let the window open."

Amity looked down at her hands, lost in her thoughts.

But...Ghost normally always come back before it's too dark outside.

She looked out the still open window of the room, and noticed how dark it was already outside. Amity sighed, she put down the glass of water on the coffee table before standing up in silence, when she started to walk away her brother interpelled her.

"Where are you going?" He asked his younger sister.

Amity stopped neatly, "I'll go search for Ghost, I refuse to let her sleep outside, especially in her current state."
