CHAPTER 16

"Goodnight." I smiled as I felt him kiss my forehead. He already tucked in the kids in their rooms, and now we're in front of my room's door and him in front of me, bidding his goodbye because he's going home now.

"Goodnight, Steve," I muttered. I raised my head and looked into his eyes. I'll never forget the first time I lay eyes on those gorgeous gray eyes. He has grown more attractive during the years that he has been by my side.

His thick brows set in a thin line as he noticed me staring at him.

He pinched my nose softly. "Stop staring at me like that," he said.

Kumunot ang noo ko. "Why?" I asked, confused.

"Those beautiful eyes of yours. You're staring at me as if you want a kiss from me," he said while clearing his throat, and his gaze lowered until it reached my lips.

I teasingly looked at him. "Really?"

"I'll go now, Selene." Umakto itong aalis ng hinawakan ko ito sa kamay.

Napahinto ito. He looked back and stared at me while clenching his jaw repeatedly.

I stepped forward. Bahagya akong tumingkayad. I planted a kiss on his soft lips. I pulled away and stared at Steve who was stunned by my unexpected move.

I laughed. He is such a gentleman that even when he wants a kiss, he still holds himself and just plans to exit. That's why I had to make my first move at him. I watched him lick his lips.

He looked at me. "You..."

I gave him a sweet smile, raised my right hand, and waved a little. "Sweetdreams, Steve," I softly said.

Nakangiting pumasok na ako sa loob ng kwarto ko at naligo at nagbihis ng pantulog.

I sighed as I recalled what happened today. Tiring. Pagod na binagsak ko ang katawan ko sa malabot na kama matapos patuyuin ang buhok ko.

Wala sa sariling napatitig ako sa kisame ng kwarto ko. I closed my eyes.

"Our doctor here seems very busy, huh?" A familiar voice said that made me stop what I'm doing. I looked up and saw the three of them standing in front of me. I gasped, and my eyes widened.

I immediately embraced them with a tight hug. "You're all here!" I happily exclaimed. They all laughed.

Kuya Cali ruffled my hair. I pouted.

Agad naman akong nilayo ni Kuya Israel kay Kuya Cali. "Hey! Don't mess with her hair!" saway ni Kuya Israel at inayos ang nagulo kong buhok.

"Ang oa nito," tawa ni Kuya Cali.

"Stop it. Selene, come to kuya and give me a big hug." I looked at Kuya Juno and smiled. I hugged him tightly.

I felt him hug me back. "We missed you so much, bunso." Kuya Juno gently said.

"How are you when we're far away? Did you get hurt? Did you cry? How about your medicine? Did you take it regularly? Hmmm?" Malambing na sunod-sunod na tanong ni Kuya.

I chuckled. "Yes po, Kuya," I replied.

"Ay favoritism!" Kuya Cali touched his chest as if he's hurt badly.

Sinuntok naman ito ni Kuya Israel sa braso. "Ay gago ka!"

"Don't mind them," said Kuya Juno.

"Sana nagsabi kayo na ngayon pala kayo uuwi para nasundo ko kayo sa airport!"

"We knew that you're on duty and we didn't want to disturb you, so we decided to just surprise you and came here. How's it?" Kuya Israel smirked.

"Pasalamat kayo at wala akong masyadong pasyente ngayon sa clinic!" I exclaimed.
