CHAPTER 33

Anong kasal ang pinagsasabi nitong si kuya Israel? Nakakahiya kay Steve! Wala pa sa isip namin iyan!

"Kuya," saway ko rito. I shyly looked at Steve.

Steve leaned in to whisper. "I should be preparing a ring now, huh?"

I blushed. Umiwas ako ng tingin at kinagat ang pang ibabang labi.

"Come on, let's eat together." Kuya Juno seriously said.

I nodded. Umupo ako sa kaharap ng upuan sa katabing upuan ni Steve kanina.

I smiled to Solane when I caught her staring at me.

I can feel Nico's eyes at me. Si Steve na ang naglagay ng kanin at ulam sa plato ko.

"Who invited him here?" I asked Steve in a low voice.

He looked at me. Sobrang lapit ng mukha naming dalawa. "Lucas wants to see him that's why I contacted him to come here," he whispered.

I slowly nodded my head and looked at Nico, who I saw staring at us while slowly swallowing his food.

"Did you already apologize to your dad, Lucas?" Binalingan ko si Lucas na katabi ni Nico ngayon.

Lucas nodded. "Yes, po, mommy! He said that I can sleep in his house if I want to! And Papa said my grandparents want to meet me too." Kwento nito.

Tipid lang akong ngumiti sa anak. Tahimik lang ang tatlong kapatid ko at si Solane.

"You can visit their house, but you'll have a curfew, Lucas. You can't stay at his house by ten in the evening. Later your dad and I will talk about what will be our setup," I said and looked at Nico, who nodded.

Kuya Cali cleared his throat, which made us look at him. His wiping his mouth using the napkin.

He put down the table napkin and calmly looked at Nico. "Since you're our niece's father, we'll respect you coming here in our humble home, Velasco. But I hope you'll not hurt your son like what you did to my sister and your supposedly child, who weren't able to see the world because of your negligence as a husband."

Napaiwas ako ng tingin. Kuya Cali shouldn't have brought that topic up since it was years ago since it happened. We're starting to be civil for Lucas, and I think we should forget what happened in the past. I'm trying to forget it and be happy now.

Magsasalita sana ako nang mapahinto ako dahil naunang magsalita si Nico kaya napatingin ako sa kaniya na seryosong nakatitig kay kuya Cali.

"I will be better for my son, and I won't fail him and disappoint Selene this time." Nico seriously said and stare at me.

Umiwas ako ng tingin at ngumiti kay Steve ng makita ko itong nakatiim bagang na nakatitig kay Nico.

"Dapat lang." It was Steve who said.

Nico looked at him and didn't say something.

"We'll give you the benefit of the doubt, Velasco," Kuya Israel said coldly.

Nico nodded.

"So papa I want to know you more! Let's play inside my room!" Lucas interrupted us.

Nico looked at Lucas and nodded. Ginulo niya ang buhok nito. Lucas pouted. "How about you, ate Solane?" Lucas asked his sister who's just silently looking at them while smiling.

Solane smiled and shook her head. "Have fun and bond with your dad. You two need more quality time," she softly said.

Napangiti naman ako.

We continued eating. The dining never had a awkward silence because of Lucas and Solane, who were talking and laughing. Nico was just staring at his son with a small smile on his lips.
