A subtle beeping rang through my mind.
It kept ringing until I opened my eyes. This time it felt like I hadn't opened them in a million years. My eyes were hard to pry open. Like someone had glued them shut. I forced my eyes open and focused on my surroundings.
White walls.
Blue floors.
Cream sheets around me and needles all in me.
Krylan's relieved face in front of me.
Immediately I jumped and started breathing hard. This caused the machine beside me to let off a string of loud, annoying beeps. My eyes started to sting as Krylan layed his hands on me. "Sapphire, you're fine. Nothing's going to happen now," he coaxed me into easing up.
The machine stopped and I layed back down.
The room was ordinary. Nothing was really special about it. There was a little door which I could only assume was the bathroom. Krylan sat on a normal wooden chair, holding my hand. The curtains were drawn.
I felt like I might go insane in here.
Krylan flashed his purple eyes up to me, "Sapphire. What happened?"
My mind was still a little foggy with all the medication, but nothing could keep the memory out of my mind. The image of Lucas flying off my balcony was still in my head. It was so beautiful and horrible, it made my heart hurt. But when Krylan asked me what happened...
I found myself not able to speak.
It was like my throat got clogged up with the reasons, but my mouth didn't know how to speak it. I found my eyesockets started to heat up. As much as I didn't want to talk about it, I had to some day. My body shook as I pulled Krylan closer into me.
"I know what Lucas is," I whispered, tears falling.
A nurse walked in then. She had saved me from have to explain any further. But it didn't save me from the look on Krylan's face. He went from wide eyes to fury in two seconds flat. When the nurse saw him, she put her hands on her hips.
"It's not visiting hours, young man. You can't be here," she chastised him. Krylan briskly placed a kiss on my forehead and stood up.
"I was just leaving, mam," he replied. His long stride made it to the door in two steps. Right as he walked out of the door, he turned around and looked dead at me. "Remember, Sapp. Stay calm." With that he was gone.
The nurse walked over to me with a questioning look in her eyes. And I knew that look all too well. "Was that your boyfriend?" I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"Far from it, lady."
She laughed a little. She was pretty in a casual way. She had long brown hair and light brown eyes. Her body was very petite. There was no way she was more than 20. I read her name tag and it said: Adelyn.
Adelyn sat down on the bed and laughed a little. The she took my IV's out. I massaged the sore spots where they had been. It was a relief to have them out. "You know," she said as she took the patches off my chest, "he adores you. I can tell by the way he looks at you.
I laughed like a crazy person and she looked frightened.
I didn't know why.
"So what's wrong with me," I asked. She seemed less frightened now but she still had a wary look in her eyes.
"Actually, nothing. You are completely healthy. We still can't figure out why you got so hot last night. The average person would've died. You're a very strong girl, Sapphire," Adelyn told me.
