We mixed the cake batter together, flour getting everywhere. The particles floated up around us like smoke, and made me cough in harsh fits. With my little hand, I frantically gripped onto the table. My nose started to feel funny. By the time I squeezed my eyes shut, a loud sneeze came from me. Me, being the little girl I was, thought my sneeze blew the bowl off. Slowly I opened my eyes to find my father standing with the bowl above his head, safe from harm. He smiled sweetly down at me, "Easy, Princess. We don't want to get gems all in our cake now do we?" I shook my head and looked down, ashamed. "I'm sorry, Daddy."
"Princess, it's completely fine, see," with that, he grabbed a handful and smeared it on his face. A fit of giggles erupted from me and I was no longer sad. My dad smiled down towards me, "I live to see that perfect smile." I smiled once again and walked up towards the bowl and stuck my tiny hand in there. I then proceeded to slap it onto my face and laugh like a maniac. My father scooped me up into his arms and pushed my face towards the bowl. I struggled in his grip. Giggling I said, "Daddy, don't! Stop!" He was laughing, but he sat me back down, just to dump the whole bowl back on my head. I screamed, and I heard my mothers footsteps bounding down the stairs. She busted in the kitchen, looking quite cheesed off. But my dad got to her before she said anything. "Help me! There's a monster," he screamed, bounding into my mothers arms. He placed a gentle kiss on her lips and she immediately relaxed and smiled. I then ran towards them, making monster noises. The feigned fear and huddled together. When I got close enough, my father yet again swept me off my feet and above his head, safe from harm. "Daddy," I squealed. "Our little monster," my parents said together, lovingly.
Little did they know their little monster grew up to be a killer, and an even bigger monster.

I don't know what was wrong with me. Or what had happened for that matter. All I knew that I was not awake.
It was like I was floating somewhere in between. Everything was dark, and I felt nothing. I was completely numb. But somewhere floating deep in the crevices of my mind, I heard my name.
It was a faint word, barely a whisper, but somehow it got to me. It shook my mind each and every time it was called. It started to make me slowly unravel. Pain was starting to break through the cracks and I could no longer decipher what was real and what wasn't.
But I knew what was happening. Someone was dragging me to the surface. With a violent shake to my mind, I opened my eyes slowly. Everything was blurry for a minute. Words were being spoken to me but I felt as if they were underwater, drowning.
A fuzzy figure was in my sight, and I focused hard in on it. With a lot of effort, features started becoming more visible. Pink, full lips were the first to come. Then a slightly crooked nose. Then purple eyes.
I gasped as the full image became clear and I shot back into something. I didn't know what happened or if we were dead or what. But this was way too close for comfort.
"Krylan," I croaked. It sounded as if I hadn't spoke for days in my ringing ears. I actually did sound like a frog.
"It's me, Sapp. It's really me," he confirmed, a small smile. I studied his face. He seemed completely fine to me. And I had no idea why. Wasn't he supposed to be licking my fathers-- anyway, wasn't he supposed to hate me?
A worried look cloaked his face and I scrunched mine in confusion to immediately unscrunch because it hurt like a mother. I shied away from him some more and looked around the room. I was in the slap dab middle of a huge bed, backed up against the oak headboard. The room was huge and smelt of a dungeon. I then gasped as I realized it was the room.
