The air rushed through my wings as I hurtled downward.

It wrapped me up in a blanket. I felt safe, until Lucas' actions flew back to me, and suffocated me with agony.

What Lucas had said, and the way he acted had me wondering if he was going to be okay. My feelings were not centered yet, so why did he assume the worse? Krylan had been there to help me in my time of need, that's true. But as to what I felt for him?

I had no clue.

But all I know is that I owe it to Krylan to save him. And I owe it to my mother to kick the crap out of my dad for what he did to us. And most importantly, I'd kill him for kidnapping me, and taking Krylan out of me and Lucas' life.

Woah, where did killing come from? I thought to myself. He was a mad man who needed to be put down like a frenzied dog, sure. But was I really capable of murder? My bones told me I was, and they ached for his blood to be spilled by my hand.

"HEY!! WATCH OUT, YOURE GOING TO CRASH!" Cut through my endless mind babble.

I jumped into reality in just enough time to see that I was heading full throttle towards jagged rocks. Immediately, I jerked upright and took a sharp turn upwards. My spine crackled all the way up, and the breath flew out of me as I hit a ledge and held on for dear life.

"Ouff," I puffed. "That's going to leave a bruise," I said through thin air. My stomach convulsed in pain, and my face screwed up. I looked down for the source of the voice that stopped my downfall.

Finally, I spotted a figure standing below me, looking up. It appeared to be a girl. Her posture looked ticked off, like she was dealing with a group of preschoolers at a park.

When I regained my breath, and my grip, I yelled, "Who are you? And why are you here?" My voice echoed off of the rocks, and it was a few seconds before I got a response.

"I could ask you the same thing. Why don't get down here before you break something?" Definitely a girl, and definitely snobby. It rolled off of the stones and up to me.

So I swung myself off the ledge. And landed not so gracefully a few inches away from the pile of rocks that almost ended me. Hissing at them under my breath, I stood up and wiped dirt off of my jeans. Then I faced this friendly stranger.

A girl it was. Her hair was ombré, jet black at the top and leading into a caramel brown, medium length with a slight curl. She had tan skin for it being fall, almost winter. Her face was hard, and her freckles stood out as she scowled. Piercing green eyes eyed my skeptically.

My face face hardened at her stiffness. I didn't even know her, so why was she so pissy towards me? Two can be a bitch then. "What's your problem?"

She scoffed, "You seem to be the one with a problem. Since you were just about to dive headfirst in the no diving area." Her long finger pointed to the jagged rocks.

My arms crossed and I jutted my hip out. "I have a lot on my mind."
Her eyes rolled, "No kidding." I uncrossed my arms and put them on my hips, "Why are you here then, Mrs. Perfect? I don't think a little girl like you should be wondering through a dark void in The Inbetween."

She acquired a defensive position, "I'm here to find my brother, and bring him home. And I assure you I have more of a backbone than you'll ever have."

My mind did a complete and utter brain flop. What were the odds that she would be looking for her brother at the same time I'm looking for Krylan? And her eyes were striking, just as two other boys I knew.

My arms dropped and I looked at her. I could see it. The hair, the eyes, the attitude. I don't see how I could've missed it. "Who's your brother?"

Her stiffness dropped a little, and her face softened, "Krylan. Krylan Braythwell. Baleo took him for some sick reason I don't know. All because Kry got mixed up with his daughter."
