"You're going to have to talk about it, Sapp," Krylan prodded.
We had been walking down the road for ten minutes now. Our hands were still linked together. Unfortunately, the rain had not let up any. And for the last ten minutes I had been feeling Krylan's stare burn a hole in the side of my head.
"If you don't stop staring at me, I'm going to bounce your head off the concrete," I told him.
He sighed long and loud, "Don't change the subject. I'll hear it one way or another."
I glared at him, "What are you going to take my memories for yourself so you can know what happened and you can make me forget?"
He stopped and turned towards me.
"Contrary to your belief, I'm not a monster. And I was going to say that I would make Lucas tell me."I shrugged, "I just assumed."
He smirked, "Well when you assume you make an ass out of you and me."
We laughed and continued walking down the road. My house wasn't much farther. We'd probably be there in 15 minutes.
"You know I'd tell you what happened," I said, "but I think you already know how I feel about the subject."
He laughed and it sounded like a small symphony. "I do. I always know how you feel, Sapphire."
That was horrible.
I didn't like people knowing how I felt every second of every day. My emotions always stayed hidden. But I guess in reality I had no emotions. Because the people I knew, I didn't care about them.
But now the Braythwell boys came and flipped my world upside down. I feel some emotions that I never even knew existed. And I had no clue why. All they did was cause me hurt and trouble.
Krylan grunted but I ignored it. I pulled on our hands to make him stop and look at me. "Krylan. What are you?"
His eyes were indecipherable. Nothing could be seen but the guarded purple around his pupil. All of his muscles were tensed, and he wouldn't look me in the eye.
I pulled my hand up and placed if on his stone cold face. With a little force I got him to look at me. "Tell me, now."
Slowly he raised his eyes up to mine. And a little bit of the barrier crumbled. Not much but his facial features got more soft. "Sapphire, I don't think that would be a good idea-"
I sshed him and shook my head. "I'll be fine. Please, just show me." His eyes searched mine and apparently he bought it.
Krylan gripped my hand and started dragging me behind him. "Come on. Let's go." Before I could protest, he threw me onto his back. And then he started running.
I hid my face in his shoulder. The wind was whipping by so fast it made my eyes water. And before I knew it we were stopped. Krylan took me off his back and sat me on the ground.
It was a clearing. Circular, yes. Big oak trees made a ring around us. The woods weren't pretty. They were dull and colorless. Not at all a good place to tell someone something.
"Krylan, why are we here?"
He looked at me. "You said you wanted to know what I am. I'm going to show you."
I took a seat on the hard ground. I didn't know why he had to take me all the way out her for this.
And before I knew it, Krylan was stripping. He slipped his shirt off over his head and started unbuckling his pants.
I turned away and shielded my eyes. "Whoaa, ducky. Why are you stripping?"
I could hear the smile on his voice when he said, "You'll see."
