Chapter 8: Recovery

3 days later Gwen was ready to leave the hospital and get back out to saving the world. She was laying on the bed watching tv when Miles says, "Hey baby you hungry?" She looks at him and says, "Very much so." He holds her hand and says, "What's mi princesa want?" She says, "Can I have a turkey sandwich with pickles cheese tomato and lettuce from Teo's?" Miles kisses her head and says, "Of course, what my princess wants my princess gets." She smiles and says, "Why are you so great Miles?" Miles chuckles and says, "It's a Morales thing, and I could say the same about you babe." She smiles and kisses him and says, "You're so cute Miles." He chuckles again and says, "And don't you forget it." Gwen laughs and Miles heads out to get her food but before he does he says, "I love you Gwen, I'll be back in about twenty minutes or so." She kisses his lips and says, "I love you too." He smiles and closes the door.

After about five minutes Gwen decided to put on a pair of Miles sweatpants and one of his shirts and hoodies. She had her own clothes there too but she felt safer and more comfortable wearing his. Rio walks in and says, "Hey Gwen how you feeling?" She says, "Better than ever thanks to you, how can I ever repay you?" Rio smiles and says, "No need Gwen, just please promise me one thing." Gwen says, "What's that?" Rio sits next to her and says, "Don't tell Miles what I'm about to tell you." Gwen looks confused and says, "I don't understand." Rio sighs and says, "Before Miles met you, he met this girl named Hannah. She was a very lovely girl and he loved her more than anything in this world. Well one day their relationship started taking a toll, there was a day she told him that she was going to the mall with her friends while Miles was helping one of his friends move. After they were done, him and his friend went down to a coffee shop and saw Hannah with another guy. He didn't think anything of it and thought he was one of her friends...that was until he saw them kissing and then his heart broke. He told me he walked in and confronted them. They went outside and talked for a while about it. He was about to leave her until she threatened to hurt him if he tried to. He tried to walk away until she beat him with a tree branch. This happened for a good two months before he finally was able to get away from her and tell me and his father. We both noticed the huge bruises and cuts he would get and he would say things like he fell or tripped on his shoelace and landed in a wall, excuses like that to cover up what was really happening. After he told us, Jeff told his team about it and they made a setup so they had evidence. Of course we believed him but you know how the law works, you need evidence to prove something as serious as this. He followed Miles to some restaurant Miles said he would take her to that night because that was part of their setup. Before they walked in Miles said that he was officially done and he couldn't take it anymore. She again threatened him and she was about to punch him in the face before Jeff tased her and arrested her. After that experience Miles felt broken, so broken in fact that me and his father caught him trying to take his own life. We talked with him for months to try and help him through it and just to be safe we took him to see one of my close friends who is a therapist. He talked with her for a few months and after those months we both noticed that he was making better progress and we never talked about her again."

Gwen looked in horror, she started to cry and said to Rio, "I'm so sorry, I didn't know." Rio hugged her and said, "I know, I just felt like it needed to be said, all I wanted to ask was, if you love Miles, please don't break his heart. I know how much you love him, and me and Jeff trust you one hundred percent, we know you would never hurt our son ever. To be honest, I really had a bad feeling about Hannah but I knew how much he loved her and I didn't want to ruin it. But with you, you're different Gwen, you're way better then Hannah and many different ways, I know you're the perfect girl for my son. And for that I just want to thank you for loving and caring for Miles. After that traumatizing experience, it makes me happy knowing he finally found someone as incredible as you. I'm happy he finally found someone that put makes him feel like himself again." Gwen wipes her tears and says, "Rio, you have no idea how much I love your son, he showed me how to love someone more than I've ever loved anyone else in my life other then my dad and my friends. I would give my life for him, he's my better half. He's changed my life and I will forever be grateful for him. I could never thank him enough for what he's done for me." Rio smiles and says, "You really wanna show him? Just love him, hug him every chance you get, show him how much you truly love him." Gwen then says, "I will, and please never think for a second that I would ever break his heart, he's the love of my life. I told him a few days ago when I got in here that I'm a clingy girl, and with him, I want to stick with him forever. And don't take this the wrong way, I know this is beyond early for me to say this but, I really want to be with him for the rest of my life. I want nothing more in this world then to be his wife. Do you think I'm maybe jumping the gun a little bit?" Rio takes Gwen hands into hers and says, "Honesty not really, I had the same exact feelings with his dad and he felt the same way, he ended up proposing to me within the first 5 months of us dating. Don't feel like you're taking things too fast, I always thought that if you really love someone with all your heart then you'll get this feeling." Gwen says, "And I do, I do love him that much." Rio then says, "Well then when the right time comes, Miles will pop the question. I know my son and I know he feels the same way." Gwen was very happy to hear that, she gave Rio another hug and says, "Thank you so much, for everything. And I promise to keep this between just you and me." Rio and smiles and breaks the hug, then Miles walks through the door with her food. He opens the door and says, "Hey baby I got your fo...." He's cut off by Gwen running to him and jumping into his arms. They stay that way for a little until Miles says, "Everything okay love?" She kisses him and says, "Everything's great, I just really missed you." He says, "But babe I was only gone for twenty minutes." She says, "I know but being away from you for even a minute feels like forever." Miles kisses her head and says, "Well I'm back and not leaving for the rest of the night." He hands her the food and it was exactly what she asked for. Rio says to them, "Well I'll let you kids be, I'll be out here if you guys need me." Miles said, "Gracias mama." He winks at her and she winks back at him. Gwen says, "Thank you babe for getting this." He says, "Well I did get you something else while I was out." He opens his backpack and pulls out a bunch of things like a box of chocolates, candy, chips, drinks, and flowers.

Gwen was in shock and didn't know what to say, after Miles gave her everything he said, "I wanted to do something special for you, to show you how sorry I was for putting you in here in the first place." She didn't know what to say so she jumped back into his arms and kissed his cheek a dozen times and said, "Thank you so much Miles!" Miles said, "You're welcome baby but that's not all, I still have one more thing to show you." She chuckles and says, "Miles you're spoiling me too much, what could be better then this?" He smiles and says, "Ask me that same question again once you see this, come with me." He extends out his hand and Gwen takes it, he leads her out of the room and outside of the room stands dozens of hospital staff with phones out recording and outside the room as well are the spider fam, George, Jeff, and Rio. Gwen runs over to the fam and hugs them saying, "I missed you all so much, it feels like forever since I've seen you guys." Peni says, "We all missed you and Miles too.", giving Gwen another hug. Gwen then says, "Miles did you do this?"

When she turns around to ask him he is down on one knee holding a big shiny ring and says, "Yes Gwen I did plan this, all of it. I brought them here so we can finally make their wishes come true." Miles takes a deep breath and then says, "Gwen I know we've been together for about a week almost a week and a half but I feel a connection within us, a connection I felt once before with someone else. After I realized she wasn't the right one for me, I gave up hope, I gave up hope that there would be someone out there that would love me like I thought she did. You literally fell into my life and when we got together, it felt like a dream come true. I could never imagine myself with any other girl ever. You are the sunflower of my dreams and I will always love you until the end of time. So what I'm trying to say is, will you make me the happiest man in the world and become Mrs. Gwen Maxxine Morales?" Gwen was again in shock, sure she wanted to be with him for the rest of her life, but she didn't know he was too. She then says, "YES! YES YES YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES ILL MARRY YOU!" Gwen pulls him into a deep passionate kiss that is surrounded by cheers by the staff, the fam, and Rio George and Jeff. Miles breaks the kiss and slips the ring on her finger. Gwen starts to cry, Miles says to her, "C'mon baby, it's okay there's no need for the waterworks." Gwen chuckles and Miles wipes her tears with his thumb. Gwen says, "I know, I'm just so happy right now." Everyone walks up to them and congratulates them on their engagement. Rio says to them, "We got a whole party in the meeting room downstairs for you guys." Miles and Gwen nod and they all go downstairs to the party hand in hand.
