Chapter 15: Only Time Will Tell

A week has gone by and Christmas and New Years Eve have come and gone. After having the best Christmas ever, Miles has officially gone into full dad mode. He has started buying a crib, toys, books, everything. He wanted to buy clothes but he wanted to wait until they knew the gender first. Gwen went to a follow up doctor to see the progress on their baby, her doctor said that the baby is growing at a great rate and is healthy as ever. Gwen comes home to see Miles baby proofing the apartment. Gwen sees Miles in the kitchen setting up a gate, Gwen says, "Honey...whatcha been up to?" Miles says, "I'm trying to baby proof the apartment for the baby." Gwen notices the bags forming under his eyes and says to him, "Miles you haven't slept at all since you found out I was pregnant. You need sleep." Miles says, "I don't need sleep Gwen, what I need is to make sure the apartment is perfect for our kid. Everything has to be perfect for them. No sharp objects, nothing they can ram into when they start walking. Nothing they can injure themselves with." Gwen smiles then walks up to him and pulls him up to eye level and kisses him very passionately. Gwen then breaks the kiss and says, "Miles, honey listen you need sleep, like I said on Christmas, we have months before he or she is born. You can afford to get some sleep. Now come here." Gwen takes Miles to the couch and sits down, Miles sits on the couch next to her and lays his head on her stomach. He then kisses her stomach and says to Gwen, "So what do you think?" Gwen says, "About what?" Miles looks at her and says, "Do you think its going to be a boy or a girl." Gwen smiles and says, "Honestly I would really like a son, a Miles Jr running around the apartment would melt my heart." Miles giggles and says, "Aww, but I would really love a Gwen Jr. You're perfect, meaning our little girl would be perfect too just like you." Gwen giggles too and says, "Well honey, only time will tell." A few moments of silence occurs until Miles breaks it and says, "I'm sorry." Gwen looks down at him and says, "For what Miles?" Miles says, "I'm sorry for acting like this. I'm just nervous, I'm scared I'll mess up as a father. I just want to be a good dad you know?" Gwen pulls him to eye level and kisses him again. She says, "Oh Miles, you'll be an amazing dad. Nobody is perfect, but in my eyes you'll be the perfect dad. You won't mess anything up ever, I love you so much Miles and I know our child will too." Miles says, "I love you too sweetheart, I know you'll be the greatest mom ever." Gwen giggles and says, "I just want you to know how much I love you. You have changed my life for the better, and I could never ask for a better husband and father to our child. How about this, in a few more months when we find out the gender of our baby, you and I go buy them some clothes and I'll let you finish baby proofing the apartment. What do you say?" Gwen looks at Miles to see that he has fallen asleep. Gwen smiles, kisses his cheek and says to him quietly, "Get some sleep honey, I love you so much." Gwen falls asleep too for the night.
