Team RVER

Chapter 2

Violet was the first one to wake up from the team, she did her morning routine in the bathroom before deciding to wake up the rest. Rhys and Rinni were the easiest to wake up, Everet however was still half asleep. Everet was somewhat teasing both Rhys and Rinni for their messy bedhead, to which the two glared at him for. Once the whole team was ready they went off to the cafeteria to eat breakfast, and then go to classes. The first class they had was Professor Thumbelina Peach to learn Plant Sciences. Upon entering their class, they could see Professor Peach standing next to the desk, and some students were already seated and talking to one another.

Team RVER just decided to sit in the middle row, as they waited for the beginning of class. When it was 8 AM, Professor Peach began their class with an introduction of herself and a briefing of the subject before proceeding to start the discussion. After their first class, they then go to their second class, which is Remnant's History with Doctor Bartholomew Oobleck.

The same thing happened with the doctor, he first introduced himself, correcting anyone who calls him Professor, then a briefing of the subject before asking questions about what they remember in Remnant's History. After a lengthy discussion and another class, in which the team had to go to different classes due to their schedule, they were now free to go and eat lunch.

"Man, just a few subjects in and I'm already feeling drained..." Rinni said

"You'll be fine" Everet asked

"Well it's only the second day, so it's bound to drain us considering the fact that we are on a new schedule" Violet added

"True, but if I have to be honest I'm taking the info a little slower. I'm not a slow learner by any means, it's just I'm more used to learning things kinesthetically."

Rhys showed his scroll to Rinni. It contained a question within its messages, to which she read.

"Well, my parents and gramps have always taught me in a more physically active way. So I got used to it, and when I went to combat school some of my grades were decent but not the best."

"Well we do have a free hour later on, we can use that if you're going to struggle." Violet suggested

Rhys showed a message from his scroll, giving his incite to the conversation.

"I appreciate it guys, but we don't share all the same classes. Crap, I don't mean that offensively, what I mean is I think I can manage and I promise the moment I'm having a hard time I'll go to you guys. Okay?"

Rinni only got a nod as a response from her teammates as they began eating their lunch. After the lunch hour was up, they proceeded to their fourth class, which was Grimm Studies with Professor Port. Rinni was close to passing out, while Everet was already asleep after a few minutes had passed. Rhys was just aimlessly doodling, while Violet was only taking the important notes from Professor Port's story, only half paying attention.

"Now class, we all know that huntsmen and huntresses are dependable, wise, strategic, well-educated, and most importantly, honorable. Who here would like to prove they have these traits?"

Rinni fully woke up when Professor Port asked the question, and she also quickly woke up Everet the best she could before the professor noticed.

"I do sir"

Only one person had raised their hand, others didn't because they didn't want to come off as too cocky or something along the lines of that. Professor Port only hummed before pointing at Coco Adel, from team CFVY.

"Splendid Ms. Adel, go change into your hunting gear and come to the front."

She stood up and walked out of the room to change into her hunting gear. Meanwhile, Professor Port looked around once more and pointed at Rinni.

"Prove to me you are a true huntress"

"Oh boy..." Rinni mumbled under her breath

She stood up and left to change into her gear as well. After minutes had passed, Coco came into the room, and a minute or so later Rinni came in as well. The two were dressed in their hunting gear, and some students began to murmur about Rinni's gear, saying how it just looked too casual and had little to no items at all. Meanwhile, they also talked about how fashionable Coco's gear was, with some girls complimenting the style. Coco was to go first, she held her purse as she stepped up front. There were two large covered cages in the front.

Growls and roars can be heard within the cages before Professor Port removes the cover of one of the cages it to reveal an Ursa. Using his weapon, the professor hit the lock of the cage, and the Ursa charged at Coco. She avoids the attack before hitting the creature of grimm with her weapon, causing the said creature to collide with a wall. The Ursa shook its head quickly before charging at its opponent. Coco once again hit it with her purse, this time on the top of the head. The Ursa stumbled a bit before being barraged with bullets and turning into black dust.

"Good. It seems you are ready to become a fine huntress Ms. Adel. Now Ms. Bellereve, are you ready?"

Rinni transformed her weapon into its crossbow mode, getting a bolt from her quiver and loading it in the crossbow before she lined up her shot. She takes a deep breath in before holding it, nodding to the instructor in the room, signaling she is ready. Removing the cover Rinni could now see her target, a beowolf. Once again, Professor Port used his weapon to unlock the cage and the grimm growled at Rinni before stepping out of the cage, sizing up its opponent.

Rinni shot directly at its wrist as she slowly breathed out. The bolt hit the forearm of the beowolf as it attempted to swat the attack away. Cursing under her breath she quickly grabbed two more quarrels before firing both of them at the grimm's wrist or elbows. The attacks only seemed to anger the beowolf and it charged at Rinni. Luckily, she was able to sidestep before the extended claws that reached her.

She transformed her weapon into its ax mode and cut the shoulder of the grimm before jumping away from it. The beowolf charged at Rinni while she was in midair, she had no means of escape. Using her weapon as a shield against the claws, she slammed into the wall behind her. She grits her teeth in before sliding down between the beowolf's legs and slicing the back of the knees, effectively cutting off the legs of the creature. Getting up quickly, Rinni used her weapon to decapitate the beowolf, making it disappear into nothingness as the bell rang.

"You truly are a huntress Ms. Bellereve and I commend you for your quick thinking. That's all the time we have for today's class, please remember to read your assigned readings. Remember to always be aware of your surroundings, students."

The rest of the team RVER rushed to their leader's side, checking if she was alright. Rinni reassured her team that she was alright and that they didn't have to worry too much. They all left the room, going to their next class. Combat Studies with Professor Goodwitch was something the whole team was excited about. This gave Violet and Rhys a chance to fight other students, showing off their skills and representing the team RVER.

The sun was setting when classes were done. True to what was said, they had a free hour which was wasted with Rinni just copying any notes she missed from the previous classes, especially Doctor Oobleck's class. Violet was the one who provided the notebook for Rinni to copy off, while Rhys and Everet were doing nothing but playing on their scrolls. The four teens decided to rest a bit before eating dinner and then they called it a night afterwards. They lay in their beds, reflecting on their day before letting sleep take over.
