Time once again passed and it has now been a little over a couple of months since the beginning of team RVER's first year at Beacon Academy. They spent the weekends either studying for their subjects or learning sign language. They are getting better at it, seeing as they now use it on a daily basis to talk to Rhys. Despite training as huntsmen and huntresses, they are still students. Being students meant they still had to do what a student does, passing required papers, quizzes, and so on.
Rinni, Everet, and Rhys stepped into the dorm room, finding Violet sitting on her desk while reading a book. Upon hearing the door open, Violet took a glance at her teammates before looking at the clock inside the room. She frowned slightly seeing as her teammates came back late. They were aware that they had classes tomorrow and sleeping late makes it harder for them to wake up.
"Hey Vi, we're back" Rinni said
"Where have you guys been?" Violet asked
"Oh, we were just fixing some stuff in my project. I dragged Rhys and Rinni with me when I saw them earlier."
"Honestly, my main goal was to buy a couple of pens."
"How do you even keep losing them?"
Rinni just shrugs at Everet before turning to Violet.
"Back to the point, why didn't you guys ask me for help in Everet's paper?"
Rhys signed his own response, to which the other two agreed.
"I appreciate the fact that you worry about me, but helping my teammate is something I wouldn't mind doing."
"We know that it's just we really don't want to put any more pressure on you." Rinni answered
Violet only frowned before standing up and grabbing a change of clothes. She slightly slammed the door to their bathroom and the rest of the team looked at the door guiltily. The three began to sign to one another and stopped when they heard the door open. Rinni was next to change and went to her bed, and the boys took their turns changing into their nightwear. They all lay on their respective beds, and after some time had passed, two of the members of team RVER were asleep, and two of them were not.
"Hey Vi... if you're still awake I want you to know that... that I didn't mean that we're a burden to you... Or that we don't believe you or anything... We just want you to take it a bit easy in studying... I don't doubt that you're smart, I don't doubt that one bit. I know you can do a lot of things but I wanna give you a break... All of us do... cause we don't want you pushing yourself too hard that it reaches the point that you'll always feel pressure and snap... "
Violet was silently listening to Rinni as she lay on her bed facing the wall. The silence felt like forever but in reality, it was only just a minute or two. Violet heard the other girl sigh before hearing the rustling of sheets, and minutes later she heard the soft snores of her teammates in their room. She closed her own eyes letting sleep take over. The next day, she was once again alone within the academy grounds.
She takes out her scroll and tries calling any of her teammates to know where they are, however, none of them answered. She went to the library in hopes of finding one of them there but there was no one there besides some random students from either higher years or her classmates. She had also checked other parts of the campus only to come up empty-handed with any information about the whereabouts of her teammates. She thinks about where her teammates could be, they wouldn't be at Ms. Walter's house, seeing as she was away for a few days and wouldn't be coming back until tomorrow or so.
Violet's teammates wouldn't also go to the Emerald Forest without her because they believe "A team fights as one, no one is left behind." Her scroll ringing broke her from her train of thought. Looking at the contact, it was her father that's calling. She took a deep breath before answering.
"Hello Father"
"Violet, how are you? Your mother's been a bit worried sick since the last time you called was a while ago."
"I already told you about my team, but we've just been busy with our training and schooling, but I'm doing okay."
"I'm glad to hear that. The last thing I heard from you was you were all learning sign language for one of your teammates."
"Yes, I've drastically improved in sign, seeing as we use it to communicate to Rhys more often than his scroll."
"Good. That can also help us if we need to talk to people who are either deaf or mute when it comes to certain scenarios in business."
Violet was silent a bit after that response.
"Oh, sorry. I forgot that you don't really like to talk about the family business, but it can't be helped if I have to be honest. I know you're not really fond of taking over the family business but you're the only one who can do it. I do hope you understand Violet."
"I understand Father..."
"I'm sorry to cut this short but I'm going to have to go. I still have some things to manage. Please call us from time to time, okay?"
"Okay. Bye."
With a quick goodbye from the other side of the call, Violet pushed the red button and put her scroll away. She took a deep breath, holding it for a brief moment, before letting it out as a silent sigh.
"You okay Vi?"
Dark gray orbs met with brown ones. Violet was able to see that it was her team leader, Rinni, standing in front of her.
"Violet?" Rinni uttered, clearly concerned
"Yeah... I'm okay... Just thinking"
"About what, if you don't mind me asking?"
"I'd rather not talk about it right now please."
"Alright, if you say so. Just remember that I'm always ready to listen, okay?"
Violet smiled faintly and nodded, to which Rinni just smiled in return.
"Come on, we gotta meet up with Everet and Rhys. They wanted to try out this new cafe."
"I thought they were busy with a project?"
"Oh they were, but they decided to take a break. They wanted to drag us along so here I am."
"Where are they anyways?"
"In Vale. I was on my way back from the training rooms when Everet called me. He said that I should get my butt to Vale and drag you with me." Violet fell silent for a few seconds before responding
"Let's go then, I'm sure they're getting impatient."
The sound of Rinni's scrolling ringing caught their attention. Rinni took the device out of her pocket and showed Violet who was calling. Rinni chuckled a bit before answering the call as Violet and she began to walk to the docking bay. They waited for a few minutes before an airship came. They immediately boarded it and soon enough they were at Vale.
Everet and Rhys met them by the landing bay before they all went to eat at the new cafe that the two young huntsmen in training were talking about. Violet smiled and laughed with her friends, slowly forgetting about the negativity she felt while talking with her father. They all decided to leave the cafe a couple of hours later and spent time looking around in the shops in Vale. She noticed her teammates disappearing for a moment before returning with a bag or two of something they bought.
When she asked what they bought, they made an excuse that it was private or for family. Violey did decide to buy some things herself, mostly things that are simple and things that she appreciates. They ended the day with a smile and a group picture by the window of an airship.
