Chapter 22

Rhys and Everet stood on the docks, waiting for something. It had only been a couple of weeks since their first year of Beacon ended and so far things have been peaceful. The shorter of the two tapped the other and began signing.

"We're waiting on a couple of people. They told me they'll be coming today." Rhys signed towards Everet

"No. I am not gonna tell you who it is." Everet uttered signing as well

Everet had noticed that lately, he has not been signing to Rhys as he talks with him. He understands Rhys's signs and he perfectly knows that he can understand him but the lynx faunus wanted to practice signing again, so he started signing as he would talk. A boat was seen docking and the two huntsmen-in-training noticed.

"That must be one of them, we're gonna wait for them to get off."

Rhys nodded but then he noticed an Atlesian airship landing not too far from them. He tapped Everet's arm and pointed to the ship.

"Oh, it looks like they're both arriving at the same time..."

Rhys looked at Everet before he saw a familiar person getting out of the airship. His eyes widened as he watched his partner look around. Everet cupped his hands in front of his mouth before taking a deep breath.

"Hey, Violet! Over here!"

Their Atlesian teammate looked in their direction before making her way towards them, pulling a suitcase behind her. Rhys suddenly felt an arm around his shoulder as Everet was brought down by another arm around his shoulder.

"Yeah! Team RVER's back baby!" Rinni said enthusiastically

"My ears!" Everet uttered pulling away and covering his ears

"Sorry! I was just excited" Rinni apologized as she rubbed her nape

Rhys just looked at his two female teammates, clearly confused, weren't they going to spend their break with their families? He began to sign towards his leader just as Violet had reached them.

"Oh, yeah, I managed to spend some time with them but I told them I also wanted to check on my teammates. At first, they told me to just check on you guys with my scroll so I snuck out. I did get in trouble, but they ended up just letting me go."

"You really are a troublemaker Rinni" Violet uttered

"Hey, not all the time." Violet only hummed at Rinni's reply

Rhys then turned to Violet before signing towards her.

"Oh, I'm here on business, and I thought, why not contact Everet since he's nearby and maybe see you both."

"Well, now that everyone's here, let's head to my place"

"Yeah, that sounds awesome"

The whole team made their way to where Everet lived. They found out that Everet's father was human, meanwhile, his mother was a lynx faunus. The team spent some days with the Exleys with Violet occasionally leaving to handle business that her father had sent her to do. Regardless, the team was having fun, teaching Everet's younger brother sign language in order for the young one to understand what Rhys was saying. Occasionally spending some time training, which inspired Everet's little brother greatly.

Right now, the team is playing a game called Remnant: The Game. Rinni had Mistral, Violet had Atlas, Everet had Vale, and finally, Rhys had Vacuo. Both Everet and Rhys had lost earlier so it was now between the two women of the team, and it was Violet's turn.

"I deploy the Atlesian Airfleet to attack Mistral head on"

"Oh, you have chosen war Vi. Too bad I have this"

Rinni brought out a giant Nevermore card.

"Oh I gotta see how this goes" Everet said handing Rinni the dice

Rinni then rolled the dice and the whole team watched in anticipation of what it would turn out. The first die landed on a 3, causing everyone to tense even more knowing that Rinni just needed a 4 or higher and she officially won the game. After what the team felt like forever, the last die landed on a 1, making a total of 4.

"Oh! And the giant nevermore attacks Mistral, wreaking havoc and leaving nothing but destruction! and Atlas wins!" Everet uttered in a commentator's voice

"Aw, man! Victory was so close!"

"Maybe next time Rinni" Violet said

Suddenly Violet's scroll goes off and she excused herself to answer it. Rinni got up to grab some more snacks, seeing as they planned to watch a movie after the game, and Rhys followed her. Everet also went with the two to grab drinks because he noticed they were getting low on them. The three set up the living room, ready to watch the movie, they only waited for their other teammate to come. It only took a few minutes before Violet came back.

"Hey Vi, saved ya a seat" Rinni said patting the seat next to her

"That's great but um..."

Rhys noticed the discomfort in his partner's face so he signed to Violet.

"Oh no, don't worry, everything's fine it's just... Um... M-my parents invited you guys to come stay with us in Atlas for a few days..."

"Well... I'd have to call my parents and check in with them, but I'm sure they're okay with it." Rinni said as Rhys just gave a thumbs-up

"I'll talk to my parents later when they get home from work, right now, it's movie time."

Violet smiled and sat down next to her Rinni as they began a movie marathon.
