Chapter 21

Now it was time for the next match. Violet Edola and Everet Exley. A lot of people were putting their bet that Everet would win due to the height difference but some people knew they could not underestimate Violet. The two stood opposite of one another in the arena, waiting for the signal to begin. Professor Goodwitch's weapon was brought down, signaling the start of the match.

Violet immediately began firing her weapon at Everet as she went forward, clearly trying to close in the gap. Everet would dodge it as he used his sword to block some of the shots as he charged. Violet transformed her weapon into a spear when Everet was getting too close for her comfort. Sword and spear collided as the lynx faunus blocked an attack from the Atlesian warrior. Everet spun, raising his sword to hit Violet but the latter used her semblace and blocked it. She smirked as she used the dull end of her spear to hit her opponent in the midsection

Everet flinched a bit but didn't hesitate to push down Violet's spear and using his strength and body weight, he pushed the shield back causing the dark gray-eyed teen's eyes to widen as the shield disappeared due to her lack of concentration. The deep blue-eyed teen used this chance to hit a direct attack at Violet with all his strength, and with the help of his momentum, the attack was surely going to be powerful. The attack hit a shield that was close to Violet, she was trying her best to hold it back.

Rinni and Rhys were both watching their teammates, occasionally checking their aura levels. As of the moment, Violet was getting closer to yellow because of the hits she's been taking, while Everet was in the green. Rhys tapped Rinni's shoulder, gaining his leader's attention before signing.

"That is true, but Vi always has a trick up her sleeve. We've all improved so there is no doubt that Vi's hiding a secret attack or something. The whole team didn't know you could fire your arrows that quickly until we battled earlier. So, for now, let's be patient and watch."

Rhys nodded before turning back to watch the fight. Violet currently was spinning her staff around, trying her best to keep Everet in a distance. The latter transformed his sword into a shotgun and began to shoot at Violet. The light purple-haired huntress-in-training used her semblance to block the bullets. With a click of a button, the staff length of her spear shortened as she reshaped the shield into a squircle that covered just past her elbow. She then charged at Everet who had managed to create his own shield with his semblance.

In the eyes of others, Violet's pace and fighting style had quickly changed. Violet was using her shield that reminded Rinni of her grandfather, seeing as she sidestepped and tripped Everet much like how her grandfather did when they were trained by him. The Atlesian warrior didn't hesitate and thrusted her spear forward multiple times in quick succession, hitting Everet's back multiple times.

Everet turned around and tried his best to send a slash at Violet, only to be blocked by her shield and slashed by the spear. Everet retreated a bit, clearly rethinking his strategy. Violet took this chance to quickly glance at their aura levels. She was in the yellow meanwhile Everet was getting close to it.

She didn't wait for her opponent to attack as she charged forward, at him, bashing her shield at his before using her spear to disarm him of the shield. Before Everet could react he was suddenly surrounded by shields and started to close in on him. He tried to use his strength to push back but eventually, it trapped him. He felt the pressure from the shields surrounding him increase. Suddenly it all went away as a loud buzzer went off.

"That's enough." Professor Glynda Goodwitch uttered

Violet looked at the aura and it was clear to her that both she and Everet were getting close to red.

"Professor, why stop? None of us are in the red or have been knocked out" Violet asked

"It was clear that Mr. Exley couldn't move anymore, and in a real scenario, he would have lost regardless. Please return to your seats. Now team CFVY it will be your turn."

Violet and Everet went back to their seats.

"Hey guys, good job. Today's just full of surprises from you two huh?" Rinni asked both Violet and Rhys

"Yeah, I didn't expect the change. Kinda reminded me of your grandpa Rinni"

"I know right?!"

"Well, I did ask for some tips from him and have been practicing them occasionally."

"Yeah, plus you kinda did the same thing my grandpa did to Everet. The ol' side step and trip." Rinni's statement caused Everet to hit his forehead with the palm of his hand

"Oh, my brothers... I knew that it felt familiar and instinctively I shortly forgot that Violet was my enemy and no way was gonna shield my back..." Everet uttered

"Well, that settles it. When we have time we'll go to my place and have my grandpa train us."

The rest of the team nodded and watched the fight before eventually they were dismissed and they all went back to their respective homes. Rinni in Mistral, Violet in Atlas, Everet on the coast of Vale, and Rhys going with Everet, seeing as he was invited to stay with them.
