Daichi watched with concern as Suga cried in his sleep. This wasn't exactly uncommon, but it seems especially bad this time. And he could do nothing but sit and hold his boyfriend's hand.

When Suga woke up he seemed more exhausted than usual. Daichi had only gotten off work an hour ago, but if he had to guess he'd say that Suga had not slept well that night.

"Good morning my love. Rough night?"

Suga yawned. "Mhm." He looked over Daichi, who was still in his uniform. "You?"

"Responded to four noise complaints, a lost dog- who was just having a snack at the neighbor's house by the way, and a fight at a bar."

"You eat?"

Daichi smiled and pushed Suga's hair out of his face. "Yeah, I ate."

Satisfied with Daichi's answer, Suga hummed happily. "I'm trying today?" He still had trouble taking, but he could get out short sentences, which was a big improvement from a few days ago.

"If you're feeling up to it."

Today marks one month since the accident, and if everything goes according to plan it will be the first time Suga is allowed to try getting out of the hospital bed.

Suga nodded. "Feel good."

"Alright then." This is the first morning that Suga seemed happy, even though he hadn't had the best night. Daichi smiled, relieved. "Let's get you some breakfast first, though. You think you can handle oatmeal?"

"Mhm."

Smiling, Daichi kissed Suga's head and left to get him some food. His boyfriend was able to eat almost an entire bowl, and he didn't feel sick at all. Finally a good sign.

"Are you ready?"

Suga looked nervous as Chiaki brought in a wheelchair. Daichi knew how bad he wanted to get out of bed, but it seems that want isn't enough to get rid of his nerves.

"Yeah."

"You're bound to feel some discomfort, but if the pain in your hips or back is too much tell us and you can stop." Chiaki smiled sweetly and helped Suga sit up completely. "Daichi helped you stretch your legs right?"

Daichi nodded and squeezed Suga's hand. "I did. He did really good today."

"Well then it looks like you're all set!"

Slowly, Suga turned himself so his legs dangled over the edge of the bed. Daichi watched, ready to help if he needed to.

He noticed Suga crying a bit and frowned. "Do you need to stop?"

"No. Haven't moved th..." Suga sighed, upset. "This much."

Chiaki glanced between the two. "You're doing so good, Suga. But this is a lot of strain on your body. Why don't I have Daichi lift you into the chair today?"

Suga's eyes lit up a little bit and he nodded. He's always shown his love with touch, and this would be the closest he's had to a hug in a month.

Daichi thought seeing Suga get so happy over this  was adorable.

He nodded and got ready to lift Suga up. "I think this is a wonderful idea." He made sure to be extra careful when picking him up, and it was shocking how light Suga is.

A few seconds later Suga was in his wheelchair, looking a little shocked.

"How does it feel?"

"Hurts. But not bad."

Daichi let out a breath and smiled. "I'm so proud of you."

Suga smiled and looked at Chiaki. "What now?"

"Well now that you're out of bed we can get you a proper bath and maybe let you stretch your legs a bit- while sitting down of course. And starting tomorrow I think if you want you could go for walks. We'll probably have to give you pain meds before getting you into your chair for at least a week though."

Daichi looked at his boyfriend who was still smiling despite his discomfort. "How does that sound?"

"Good."

"I'm glad." Daichi leaned down and kissed Suga. "You know you're gonna be okay right?"

"Mhm. Gonna be okay."
