"Suga!"
The gray haired boy looked up from his phone and burst out laughing at the sight of Daichi, who was absolutely covered in mud.
"Oh my God, Daichi, why do you look like that?"
Daichi rolled his eyes and sat next to Suga's hospital bed. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. Seriously though, are you okay?"
"I'm fine. There was an infection at my hip, but the surgeons already got that taken care of and got me on a new antibiotic. I feel a lot better already." Suga smiled. "Now what's with the mud?"
"Right." Daichi groaned and ran a hand through his messy hair. "Some guy tried to steal a girl's bag, which resulted in a chase. Through the rain. And mud. Lots of mud. And then, it turned out that he had a whole team of people to help him get away because the bag he stole had enough money to buy him the moon!"
Suga's jaw dropped, and he blinked at his boyfriend. Daichi occasionally came home with fun stories from his job, but there was never anything like this.
Daichi noticed Suga's amusement and grinned. "Oh yeah, there's more too. The girl that's purse was stolen- she's a famous actor from England I guess. I have no idea who she is, but I guess the thieves knew she was coming to Japan and were planning this. We caught them, but there were only three of us against... Seven of them! So there was a lot of tackling, and it took ages, and that's why I'm filthy."
Suga laughed again. "Well I guess that also explains why you weren't answering your phone."
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that."
"Don't be!" Suga kissed one of the only mud-free spots on Daichi's face and smiled. "You were being a hero today after all."
"If you say so. You ready to go home?"
For a second Suga was quiet, but then he nodded. "Yeah. But I'm gonna have to be extra careful with my left hip and thigh for awhile. And I'm not allowed to do any of my exercises for a week at least."
It sucked, but there was nothing he could do about it. Especially when he knew he'd be hurting a lot again when he left the hospital and the pain medicine wore off.
"Well, I don't know if it will make you feel better," Daichi said, "but I have been informed that for my work today I'll be getting bonus big enough to completely pay of our house. Or do something else, but basically you don't have to rush to get back to work too soon. We're good on money at least."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Turns out that actress lady was reaaally grateful."
Suga sighed in relief. "Okay that does make me feel better. And slightly less like a money drain!"
"Wow, Daichi, you look terrible. Even worse than Suga!"
The two looked towards the door to see Chiaki bringing in a wheelchair for Suga.
Daichi rolled his eyes and frowned. "You're like the fifth person to tell me that."
The nurse just smiled and gestured to the chair. "Alright Suga, you're free to go. Just remember your instructions, and don't forget to take your new medicine. And don't let me see you back here unless you're getting cleared."
Suga laughed, a sight that Daichi always found so, so lovely, and said, "Yes ma'am!"

I felt inspired by one of my family members stories for Daichi in this chapter (mostly the part about a very muddy chase, but of course I had to spice it up a bit!) So please enjoy :)
