"Shit, Suga."
It was hard not to flinch when Daichi ran a soft hand over the giant bruise covering his abdomen. His boyfriend looked at him with concern. "What even happened?"
"I kind of fell in the shower."
"What?"
Suga threw a stolen T-shirt from Daichi on and shrugged. "It's fine, Daichi. It's not as bad as it looks."
"Suga, love of my life, that is one of the worst bruises I have ever seen."
"Okay, it's bad," Suga sighed. He contemplated standing up from the bed but instead decided against it and layed his head on Daichi's shoulder instead.
Daichi frowned at the look on his face. "What's going on, hm?"
"I'm just tired of this."
He worked at a hospital, so of course he knew that recovery wasn't a linear journey, but he still had hoped that he would be doing better than this by now.
Suga smiled sadly. "I just feel like every time I make progress something happens."
"Suga-"
"I know, I know, I shouldn't be feeling sorry for myself." He sighed and fully flopped onto his back.
"That's not what I was going to say." Daichi moved to lay next to Suga. "You're allowed to feel a little sorry. I mean honestly, this is the first time I've heard you complain in the five months since this happened. So complain if you want, be sad if you want, it's okay. But you should know something."
"Hm?"
Daichi smiled. "You are still absolutely perfect just the way you are. Even with all of your scars."
"You think so?"
"Mhm. In fact..." Daichi trailed off as he lifted Suga's shirt slightly. And so gently, he ran a finger over one of the scars. "I find them quite attractive. Like this heart shaped one."
His finger moved to another scar, and he watched as Suga's whole body flushed pink. "This one, too. It perfectly outlines the abs that you've somehow managed to maintain throughout all this."
Suga smiled fondly and wrapped his arms around Daichi's neck. "Please, they're barely there, and only because of the exercises I have to do." He thought about the way Daichi looked at him, even now, and it definitely did make him feel better. "I appreciate the sentiment though."
"My point still stands."
Daichi started to move his hand away but stopped when Suga frowned. "What?"
"I'm cold, and your hand warms my stomach quite nicely."
"So I'm just your own heated blanket tonight?"
"Yes, because you love me and I was gravely injured in the shower," Suga mumbled as he flashed his pouty eyes.
Careful to avoid touching his boyfriend's new glorious bruise, Daichi pulled Suga tightly against him. "Happy now?"
"Very."
