Chapter 21: Ellie's Backstory

Your POV

"Hey, shorty. Is there anything bothering you?" I jumped at the question. I turned around and bit my lip.

"O-oh, uh... Nothing!" I said as I am waving both of my hands. "Ellie, we know that you are lying. It's kind of obvious because you're stuttering." Yamaguchi said who is beside him.

I bit my lip again. 'Great.. what should I tell them.. What if I just lie.?'  I thought as I am looking down trying to think of a lie or something to distract him.

"You guys are practising for the Interhigh right?" I said with a fake smile and put my finger up. "Don't try to change the subject, shorty.." A sigh escape Tsukki's mouth. I clenched my left hand into a fist.

"F-fine.. But I don't want to distract you guys about my problems during the Interhigh.." I said with a sigh of defeat. "I don't care just spill it..." He replied with soft tone. I looked around to make sure the others didn't hear what I was about to say.

"I-It's not a big deal but it's because I got blamed for not winning the competition. If you wanted to know Yamaguchi, I got sabotaged and my painting is ruined and destroyed. I knew who the person was but I'm not ready to tell you guys. It will be a h-huge problem..." I said while rubbing my hands and scared if I tell them her name.

"It's fine, shorty. Just.. tell us the name..." Tsukki said and I flinched at his reply.

"O-okay, i-it's.. Arika Kizuka... She has been using me after we became best friends.." I told both of them. "Wait, is it the same person that you told about us during our first practice match?" Yamaguchi asked with his eyes widened. I nodded.

"Please tell me- I mean us between you and her." Tsukki with a worried expression on his face but before I could open my mouth our teacher walked inside and all of our classmates rushed to their seats.

"I will tell you guys about her during recess alright?" I said and both of them nodded. Yamaguchi rushed back to his seat. I pulled out my notes and the flashbacks came into my head that made me can't focus. 'Make it stop...'

Recess time

"Okay we're outside now tell us about it." Tsukki said and three of us sat on a bench.

"Okay.. y-you see..."

Flashback

I was sitting on my seat alone and drawing some random characters until someone came up to me. "Hi! Your Sawamura Ellie right? I'm Arika Kizuka! Nice to meet you!" She said with a huge smile on her face.

I looked at her with a confusion since I don't that many friends other than my brother's friends. I nodded a little and continue to draw.

"Wow, is that your drawing? That's so cool!" She complimented and I looked at her again and nodded. "You don't talk much do you? It's okay, I'll be your best friend!" She said and put her hands on her hips.

'Both of us became best friends after that. She's like a big sister for me and I feel safe around her.  I even told her to my brother but that changed when we're in 8th grade where she was a bit aggressive with me...'

"Ne, Ellie! Can you throw this away for me?" She said handed me an empty plastic bottle. I nodded and I threw away the empty plastic bottle. 'That's weird.. Kizuka would always call me Ellie-chan..'  I thought but I shrugged forgetting about it.
