Spencer's POV
Six Months After Liv's Graduation

"Someone must be excited to have Olivia join him on the road this weekend," the team doctor, John David, says and I smile brightly.

"It's been three weeks. I can't wait to see my baby."

He smirks. "Has either of you mentioned plans for the future lately?"

Dr. David has been everything I've needed as I enter into my sophomore season without Olivia by my side in Dallas.

"Nope! When we talk, it's usually surface stuff. And then when we get to see each other, we make up for lost time. If you know what I mean."

He laughs and so do I.

"That's great and all! But remember to use your time with her wisely. Since you both agreed to live separately and pursue your individual careers, don't leave question marks. Distance is already enough to maneuver."

I've spent months telling him all about how Liv and I met and how special she is to me. But I also spent as much time telling him how difficult these past six months have been, knowing our relationship has no clear future, at this point.

"I don't know, Doc. Just six months ago, I was poise to get on one knee. I wanted to marry her and live happily ever after. Now we're having FaceTime dates and I spend $25,000 in flights per month just to make sure we get our time together."

"So why did you tell her to stay, Spencer?"

"Because I want her to be happy. She likes working at the law firm. And if she likes it, I love it."

"I don't doubt that she likes it. But how would you know if she's happy, when you haven't bothered to ask?"

Later that night...
After a flight to LA

Olivia and I overlook the ocean view as we share stories of our childhood.

"Jordan and I used to ride our bikes to this beach as kids," she tells me. "And one time I pushed him in. He swears a fish bit him that day."

"Ha! Don't front like that's not possible!" I joke. "All jokes aside, I always wanted to go night fishing at a beach like this as a kid. But with my dad incarcerated most my life and my mom working long hours, I had no on to take me."

"When's the last time you talked to your dad?" Liv asks curiously and I shrug.

"Years, Liv. He's serving forever and a day. So I don't really see the point in talking to him." I explain with a sour taste in my mouth.

"What if he didn't have much longer? Would you be willing to get reacquainted, at least?"

I scoff at her question as I reach over to kiss her forehead. "I don't know, Liv! But luckily, I don't have to worry about that!"

She goes silent for a second and I peep over my shoulder as I watch her eyes drift off into the starlit-sky.

"But what if?" She says in between light yawns.

"He had his chance and blew it, baby! So the only person I want to go fishing with now is you," I avoid her initial question and she forces a smile. "Even though you tried to jump into my skin when you saw a seashell earlier."

She doubles over in laughter.

"That's because I thought it was a crab. And you didn't seem to mind me sitting on your lap."

"Oh, I didn't mind! In fact, I think I see one of those crab-seashell-looking things right next to you." I say playfully and she blushes as I pull her from her chair and into my lap. "C'mere girl, let me protect you!"
