"Come on, girl! Do you want to be late?" Kia yells as she bangs on my bedroom door.

"I'll be down as soon as I find my brush," I tell her and I hear the front door close seconds later.

We should've left about five minutes ago, but with my things packed everywhere, it's been hard for me to find the things I need."

"If I was a brush, where would I be?" I mumble as I walk into the living room and search a few boxes before accidentally knocking over the black duffle bag Ms. Grace brought earlier.

I hear a loud thump and a piece of paper slides onto my foot from inside the bag.

When I bend over to pick it up and I notice a jewelry box is just underneath.

"What is this?"

I open the paper and read a receipt with enough zeros to flunk a class.

"Oh my—-goodness!" I cover my mouth in disbelief.

The purchase dates back to just before my graduation and I sigh knowing so much got in the way of this ring making it to my finger.

I open the box and I see the most beautiful diamond in the world and I place it on my finger before running to the mirror to see it for myself.

While I'm there, I see my reflection and find myself imagining what life would be like as Mrs. Spencer James.

**DAYDREAM**

"Spencer, look at what this baby is doing to my feet!" I shout as I watch my husband flip burgers on the grill in sandals and an apron.

"You look beautiful, baby," he says back before putting the spatula down and walking over to kiss my forehead. "Ain't that right, baby boy? Mommy looks beautiful."

Our two year-old son lets out a tiny smile as he rubs his sleepy eyes and lays on my pregnant belly.

"You have to say that," I mumble and he laughs as we overlook the lake in our backyard and he rubs my hand endearingly.

"I do—— mainly because I want to have two more. Two boys—-two girls—-total!" He replies and I roll my eyes.

"Just say you want me pregnant for the rest of my life," I blurt dramatically and he laughs. "Crossing my fingers that there's a set of twins in this belly so I don't have to endure the swollen ankles anymore."

He laughs again as he lays his head next to our sleeping toddler and rubs my belly while I rub his back.

"Mommy," I hear my name screamed loudly as the backyard gate opens and our oldest baby girl walks in with my sister Lena.

They went shopping and relaxed at the spa. All of the things I'm too tired to do at nine months pregnant.

Our little girl doesn't care that she's disturbing the peace and that's my favorite thing about her. She's unapologetically a toddler.

Spencer opens his arms to brace her fall as she jumps all over him, which gives him the perfect opportunity to apply kisses to her tiny face.

I listen to her giggle before they go back over to the grill and Lena rambles about her college drama. And I don't mind listening because it's better than most tv shows.

"College gets better," I eventually tell her. "Maybe you'll be lucky enough to meet your one true love."

Spencer smirks and I wink, making my sister gag playfully.

"Yeah, maybe, I'll start texting random numbers to see if Prince Chaming shows up at my dorm." She says with sarcasm and I shrug.

"Maybe——"

She finishes her onslaught of problems before realizing that complaining won't change a thing and I giggle as she grabs her things and goes.

"I don't miss that!" I whisper to myself before catching a glance of Spencer and our daughter test tasting the food from the grill.

I smile at the way our toddler giggles at the fact that she gets the first piece with her favorite person.

And although, she has Spencer completely wrapped around her little finger, I don't envy her because she's an extension of me. And I knew shortly after meeting Spencer, he would one day be the man I see in front of me today.

**END DAYDREAM**

"Liv, let's go!" Kia yells and I hurry to take the ring off and place it back where I found it.

•••

When I get to the car, Kia pulls off and I'm pretty much in awe of what I discovered.

"Do you think I'll make a good wife?"

Kia glances at me before looking back at the road. "Yeah, why? Are you secretly engaged? If so, spill! I need deets!"

"No. But can you keep a secret?"

"No—- but tell me anyway!" She says and I laugh at her honesty.

"I just found an engagement ring in one of Spencer's old gym bags."

"Shut up! And keep talking!"

I giggle before taking a deep breath. "And maybe he wanted to propose to me after graduation. But I stayed in Philadelphia. So now—-"

"—-that you're moving to Dallas, he's going to propose again?" She finishes my sentence and I burst into laughter.

"Plus, he delayed our flight! What if he wants to do it in front of all of you?"

"I can already see it now! My girl's about to be a wife!" She yells and I do too.

"But let's not get our hopes up because —- who knows—- maybe marriage is the furthest thing from his mind," I try to calm her and she frowns.

"Girl, you're getting your ring soon! I can feel it!"
