Chapter-8
Ranvijay was sitting in his office staring outside from the huge floor to ceiling window overlooking the city when door of his office burst open. A man of same age as his walked inside dressed in a white crisp shirt and blue tailored pants running his fingers through his perfectly gelled hairs.
"Ranvijay!"
He spoke with a mischievous smile catching Ranvijay's attention as he took a seat opposite him on the chair.
"What are you doing here, Arjun?"
The smile fell from Arjun's face and he gasped dramatically saying,
"Can't I come to meet my best friend?"
Ranvijay rolled his eyes hearing his words and diverted his attention back to the file he was reading.
"How's married life going, my dear hukum sa?"
Arjun asked with a teasing smile etching on his face.
"Shut up, Arjun,"
Ranvijay glared at him but he didn't seem to take any of it as he said,
"I am your friend, you can tell me Ranvijay,"
"There's nothing you need to know. Besides this isn't a marriage but a deal for me, Arjun."
Hearing this Arjun immediately become serious leaving his cool attitude aside.
"You shouldn't say this. She is your wife, you are her husband. You can't degrade your relationship naming it as a deal."
He told Ranvijay calmly.
"Of course, it is a deal a business deal. My father was so adamant to get me married so it's obvious that he might have made a deal. He must have thought of profit we might get with this,"
Ranvijay argued.
"It doesn't matter what he thought. You are married now and you should understand that you have certain duties to fulfill as a husband...."
"I don't care, Arjun. I won't take responsibility for things happened against my will. There's no such thing like duty of a husband because I don't accept this marriage at all. This is a stupid deal and she is an unnecessary wife."
Ranvijay cut off Arjun in between.
"Your accepting or denying won't change anything. She is your wife and you are married now that's it. Now act like a grown up and take responsibility for your actions."
Arjun shouted seeing his reckless attitude towards this marriage. He wasn't liking how he could say like this about his marriage.
They have known each other since college and Arjun knows everything about Ranvijay including the fact for his continuous disapproval towards this marriage.
After a long uncomfortable pause, Arjun spoke,
"Ranvijay, you can't continue to hold onto the past when your present and future both are on line. Forget it, forget her. Doing this you are just proving her right."
