Chapter 14: New Dawn

It was a whole week since Ze-Ro returned to Beach City. And things we're starting to look up.

Ze-Ro resumed school, including mandatory therapy sessions to help him accept his new form.

But, he was now more comfortable with Little Homeschool.

Gems knew him, and he was getting to know the gems of his new home.

He was even starting to attend art classes again, being taught by Vidalia.

The model today was once again Yellow Pearl. She took a simple pose as if she was frozen mid strut.

He still wasn't the best at drawing what he saw, and he grew frustrated. But he took a deep breath and relaxed.

In fact when Vidalia looked at his drawing when the session, she was impressed.

Vidalia: You're grasping shapes better.

Ze-Ro perked up.

Ze-Ro: Really?

Vidalia: Heck yeah! You've been practicing?

Ze-Ro: I, a little.

Vidalia: Well hey, a doodle every now and then does wonders. I'd say this earned a place on the board, show everyone how much you're improving. What do you say?

Ze-Ro looked down at the drawing. He was still not impressed with himself. But, what the heck.

Ze-Ro: You know what, sure.

Vidalia: Really? Heck yeah!

Vidalia placed the picture on the wall. Ze-Ro looked around and saw all the drawings, both masterful, and amateur.

Ze-Ro: Hm, I still don't get it.

Vidalia: You will, in your own way at least. Nice job.

Vidalia gave Ze-Ro a pat on the back.

Ze-Ro then wandered around Little Homeschool. He was in better spirits, he tried to hide his horn, but he then got waves from the residents.

Ze-Ro was surprised, but sheepishly waved back.

Steven and Amethyst were chilling when they saw Ze-Ro strutting around.

Steven: Would you look at him? He's really taken a better path.

Amethyst: Yeah, it really is something isn't it?

Ze-Ro went around and saw Volleyball.

Ze-Ro: Hey Volleyball.

Volleyball turned and looked simply overjoyed.

Volleyball: Hi Z! How have you been?

Ze-Ro: I'm, good. Actually good. Say, you want to go to the spa together?

Volleyball: Wha- You're, inviting me?

Ze-Ro: Oh, uh, sorry if you don't want to then-

Volleyball: No! I'd love to go. It's nice to just relax. In fact I think your other friends are there too. In fact there's another part of a spa were gems play games. They are probably there.

Ze-Ro: Really?

Volleyball: Yeah, I prefer the quiet and calmness of the original fountain. But every now and then the more rowdy areas are fun to experience.

With that Ze-Ro and Volleyball went to the warp pad and went to the spa.

Steven and Amethyst couldn't help but feel all giddy inside.

Steven: I say we reward Ze-Ro with his progress. But what would he want right now?

They both pondered, then amethyst remembered something no one has thought about in quite a while.
