"You know what, you bitch? I challenge you to a witches duel!"

"You barely have any magic you owl beast."

Owlbert immediately flew to Eda, taking staff form.

The air was thick with tension as the two witches faced off in the clearing, just in front of the Owl House. Their eyes locked in a fierce stare, their choice of staff or hand at the ready. The trees around them seemed to lean in, as if to get a better view of the battle to come.

Eda, dressed in her usual long torn dark red dress, her hair wild and unkempt, sneering at Odalia- her opponent.

"You think you can defeat me? I am Eda the Owl Lady, the Boiling Isles mosr wanted." she spat. "I have been practicing my magic for centuries. You are no match for me."

The other witch, a younger woman with a evilly determined look in her eye, smiled menacingly.

"I may not have your experience," she said, "but I have something you don't: the Emperor is on my side." For an oracle witch she was sure obsessed with the Emperor and the Emperor's coven; or maybe that was just her greed for power.

With a circular motion with her hand, the bitch summoned a fierce gust of wind that pushed Eda slightly back. She quickly regained her footing, turning into Harpy mode to get a stronger grip of the ground. But Odalia was harsh and relentless. She called upon strong spells again and again, summoning learnt by the books elemental magic to aid her in the battle.

Eda was growing more enraged, retaliating with powerful spells of her own. The sound of crackling energy of the battling witches was volumes over the usual soft noises of the forest.

As the battle continued, the clearing around them began to change. The trees grew taller and more twisted, their branches reaching out like grasping fingers. The sky had darkened above us, and the wind howled and whistled. The energy clearly shifting in response to the magic.

The two witches were locked in a magical struggle for dominance, each determined to emerge victorious. As their duel reached its climax, Odalia began to tire, seeming to have underestimated Eda for one, and also not being as used to powerful witches duels.

Eda had sensed the advantage and pressed her attack, unleashing a devastating spell that sent the older Blight stumbling to the ground.Eda pointed her staff out towards Odalia threateningly, ready to either deliver the final blow or straight up beat her ass with the staff. But as Eda looked down at her opponent, she stopped for a moment.

Eda was never going to kill Odalia, not in front of us kids anyway, so instead she lowered Owlbert's staff form stepped back.

"Never hurt my kids again."

Whether it was the Emperor's or Odalia's plan to go this far, it was foiled. As  Blight scurried through the forest, heart pounding in her chest, she couldn't help but feel a sense of despair wash over her. For years she had been so sure of her own power being magical ability or manipulation over others. She was so convinced of her own invincibility, that she had never once considered the possibility of defeat.

But now, as she stumbled through the underbrush, her breath coming in small ragged gasps, she couldn't deny the truth any longer: she was beaten.
