Luz and I had been walking around the shops for what felt like hours, they had immediately found a few items of clothing that peaked their interest. A skirt that had multiple layers in similar hues of pink topped off with a suits shirt and topped that off with a tailcoat. For a random assortment of clothing, Luz made it work.

I wanted to be comfortable and just blend in with the crowd a little more, not wanting to draw too much attention to me being a 'criminal' and all.

"[y/n]... it's a masquerade! Wear a mask and no one will care that you are... well, you!"

I sighed, that didn't change much for me. I still couldn't find anything I liked, not even a little bit. The two of us walked out and made our way to the next store, it wasn't very popular, you could tell from the creaky door with almost a fresh unworn handle, and the way the wooden sign was rotting slightly. None the less, we walked in.

"Oh hello dearies!" Luz and I snapped our heads towards the voice, an old woman sat in a rocking chair over the counter, knitting away at a blanket solemnly. It was such a strange thing to see something so visually depressing but hear a cheerful voice powered behind it. I look behind her, a shelf full of oracles. I gathered she was an oracle witch and glanced to her wrist and sure enough the oracle sigil had been supposedly blessed to her skin. "Shopping for the ball are we?"

"Just them, I've already found my own attire."

The lady hums and Luz and turns to me, pondering for a moment before her eyes lit up.

"I think I have just the thing." I couldn't will myself to move as I watched the lady shuffle around behind racks of probably dusty, old dresses that I wouldn't be surprised would tear at the seams due to their age if someone tried one on. I glanced at Luz who returned the look and shrugged.

It took mere moments before the lady reappeared with the most gorgeous dress/suit (whatever floats ur boat in formal wear-) I had ever seen presented to me.

dress:
It was a gold metallic base dress that had a layer of tule to lighten and soften the colour of the dress. The bodice was adorned in rhinestones, the sparkle of the dress reflected in my eye. Each of the rhinestones looked as if they had been hand sewn. The effort of it astounded me but what really surprised me was how well it had been maintained in this old store

suit:
From a distance it looked as though it was a basic beige looking suit, however, getting a closer look I see it was extremely high quality fabric. The vest/blazer (or both if you want) was adorned in golden threaded embroidery, each looking as if had delicately been hand sewn. The attire was astounding but it blew me away on how well it had been maintained in the store, especially considering the rotting exterior.

{ or just imagine whatever you wanna wear but it has to have a fair amount of gold for obvious plot reasons =v=  }

"This is gorgeous but there is no way I'd be able to afford it..."

"Please, darling, take it. On the house, free of charge!"

I stood there, mouth agape at the lady's words. I whip my head to Luz who was smiling like an idiot. I face the witch again, then at the dress, then at the witch once more.

For a split second, I thought of the Golden Guard, this is his signature colour. Surely he would wear something that has some gold right? Would he be in uniform? The ball is in the castle and I don't think I have ever seen a coven scout, let alone the higher ranks, get a single day off. Is this lady trying to uncoincidentally get me to MATCH the Golden Guard. She is an oracle, maybe she saw something... but why would she...

"You sure..?" I ask hesitantly. The woman didn't answer, instead she pushes the dress into me and then continues to push the two of us out the door. I hear the door slam behind us as we stare into the street, for a busy market place so far from the time of the ball it was very empty. I turned on my heel, going for an argument but when I turned the shop had completely disappeared. An old abandoned, rickity, building stood in it's place, the same rotting sign hanging above no longer had the old stores name, rather it was blank.

I stare down to the formal attire that had been gifted to me for no price at all and silently turned to Luz. She looked at me and then the dress.

"Well... how about we go home and try it on?"
