Stab wounds should always be treated with suspicion, as a small entrance wound can hide injuries to deeper structures or foreign bodies. Stabs on the surface of the body may show a wide variety of morphological characteristics, depending on the type of implement used, in my case a blade of a single sharp-edged dagger.

What I was told about stitching up on the way to the operating room was that the goal was to piece together the edges so that my skin and other body tissues can fuse back together.

Other healing coven witches were with me, mainly removing the hospital gown I was provided and changed into when I was first admitted into care, in order to disinfect the wound. It stung but it was manageable compared to the part where I was actually stabbed, they casted a spell on the area to help with numbing the pain, it felt like when you sit down for too long and lose sensation in your legs- but in my abdomen area instead. Once again, I was injected with the morphine as a back up for numbing assistance if the spell wore off during surgery.

It's interesting to think all of this numbing assistance for an ancient medical procedure that books describe as less painful as one may think. Either way I do appreciate the effort.

The stitches themselves are just loops of thread that Cutburn had used to sew the wound closed. At the last loop, they tied a knot so the cut continues to stay closed until it is fully healed. I wasn't watching for most of the procedure, mainly because I was laying down and it hurt to crane my neck but also because it was a little weird to watch a needle be punctured into my skin and pulled out.

It was only a short procedure, because Cutburn started to tell me information on how to look after it. Like avoid getting them wet, or a certain potion to use to it doesn't get infected and to change the bandage covering at least once a day to, again, avoid making the injury worse.

"I have also relayed this information to Eda, because as far as I'm concerned the Owl Lady is your care giver. Luz was present during the meeting as well, so she knows how to treat you need be. Any issues or concerns rise up, please come back immediately."

"Does that mean I'm going home?"

"Not just yet, we are having you stay at least another night just to keep an eye on your stitches."

"Right, because ancient procedures haven't been practiced in... like hundreds if not thousands of years."

"Exactly. Now, get some rest. We will check on you regularly."
