TW: SMALL MENTIONS OF INJURY/GORE
Running. Scream. Crunch. Teeth sinking into flesh, large, sharp, dirty teeth, more teeth then the average human, and almost the same amount of teeth as a great white shark. And then suddenly, those teeth retracted from that flesh, for some odd but miracle of a reason. The predator must've found some other prey, leaving this one injured and soon to be cold....
She laid on the floor, her body turned to the side, the left side of it was drenched with blood, the warm liquid quickly pouring out of her wounds. The grass she was laying on slowly being covered by the puddle of red blood, giving the greenness of the grass a brown hue. Lying unconscious, soon to be picked off.
It's 2015 at Universal Studios, Orlando, Florida. Picture it. Her mother had brought her and her siblings there because they couldn't afford to actually go to Isla Nublar which had the real Jurassic World. She had always been fascinated by mythical beings, from watching the Jurrasic Park movies when she was younger, transitioning into Jurrasic World as she got older.
Watching How To Train Your Dragon 1 & 2, wanting to fly on the backs of the scaled creatures. And as she and her small family walked through the place of the remade version of Jurassic World, something caught her ear. "Raffle! Raffle here!"
"Only 20 dollars a ticket, enter your name to win a spot in Jurassic World's Camp Cretaceous experience! No charges, all paid for!" And foolishly, she begged her mother for those 20 dollars and wrote her name with her messy handwriting that had been the same since she was in the 1st grade.
"Which one of you lucky fellows will join us on this roaring adventure? Ages 13 to 16 only!" She handed her ticket to the man with the microphone and the man gave her a wink as he rubbed the orange ticket between his thumb and index finger. "This one feels lucky." He said, and again, she was foolish enough to be filled with hope that her name would be called and she would be on the first flight she could get to Isla Nublar. And then he continued, "Raffle tickets!"
This made her wonder if he had said that to everyone to butter them up and buy more than one ticket, perhaps putting their names in multiple times, increasing the chances of their name being shouted out and going to Camp Cretaceous. There was a one in a few thousands chances that her name would actually be called and there was also a huge chance that she would be rejected for someone better.
Raffle ticket, that stupid crumpled up ticket still stuffed in the pocket of her black shorts. That had been stared at for hours, not actually believing her name, "Louise Abigail Crenshaw!" was called.
She hadn't really heard about Camp Cretaceous a whole lot, or now that she thought about it, she had never heard about it at all. But as soon as she got home, she got straight to researching and supposedly it was a huge thing that no plain city folk could get into. And she looked at the orange ticket that was placed on top of her desk, the ink a bit misprinted, maybe this guy at Universal had scammed her and her mother out of 20 bucks.
Along with the trip of a lifetime.
One kid would have to beat a video game to get in! But, that also could've just been a rumor spread by the media. She really had to stay hopeful and she couldn't even believe that she had thought that sentence to herself. Raffle, raffle, raffle....
Cold. She was cold on the plane down to Costa Rica, and she felt a small chill roll up her spine when she was hanging off the side of the boat that brought her to Nublar with five other kids, who she really paid no attention to and they didn't pay any real attention to her either. She was cold now, the warm liquid cooled and congealed ever so slightly around her. Only now, she had no maroon sweatshirt that she could pull over her head to warm her up. She had left that piece of clothing back at the camp that was destroyed.....
Camp Cretaceous....She was actually here. She was standing on the dock that would lead her to Jurassic World! Oh, she was ecstatic but didn't dare to show it. She stood on the dock with the other kids, and her face was in a resting position, as most people would call a "resting bitch face".
She and the others were welcomed warmly by counselors that ran the camp. A man and a woman. Louise got the immediate feeling that she would get too attached to the male counselor, who would be later known as Dave. "You are the chosen few," He said, "the first few kids in the entire world ever to experience the awesomeness that is Camp Cretaceous." Dave continued, and the more he talked the more that feeling sunk into Louise.
And the other, Roxie, who happened to arrive late. Roxie came riding onto to the dock in a Jeep with a flatbed, wearing the same red shirt that had the Jurassic World logo in the corner, and the same khaki shorts. Roxie also had brown hair like Dave, but her hair was a little darker than his. Louise's hair wasn't brown at all, it was more of a blonde.
But, she wished it was the color of Roxie's chocolaty hair. "Ah, so sorry I'm late. Welcome, campers!" Roxie's voice came out of her mouth in an interesting yet gorgeous accent. "I'm Roxie, head consoler of Camp Cretaceous." She walked over to Dave, who they were all eyeing down because it was obvious Roxie was the more mature one.
However, Louise didn't mind immaturity, she was as mature as mature could be. You could call her a "nerd", "goody two shoes", or even go as far as "teacher's pet". Just don't let that fool you. When she was around the wrong but right people, she could be just as stupid as them, making dirty jokes, laughing or talking too loudly, being obnoxious and regretting it hours later.
This was why she wasn't as annoyed as everyone else was when the seventh and final child showed up. Only realizing they were missing one after a boy by the name of Ben, a small, skittish kid with blue almost grey eyes and brown hair. And once Ben mentioned that a head count was done, which was when Dave decided to give all the campers nicknames. Dino-kid. Track-star. Internet-girl. Barfy. Texas. And he decided to call Louise, "Ticket-girl" Another reminder about that raffle ticket.
They followed Dave and Roxie to a helicopter pad, to which a helicopter had landed. Another boy, making the total 3 boys and 4 girls, with a pink shirt on and sunglasses jumped out of the chopper with a teal duffle bag slung around his shoulder. He walked towards us, "Greetings, my dudes! Kenji is here, so let the party commence!" Kenji exclaimed.
"Put this in my room." Kenji tossed his bag to Roxie without giving a damn. Louise let a giggle like sound escape from her lips, "See, knew I was funny." Kenji said, talking off his sunglasses and held them off to the side and it appeared that everyone had inched away from Louise and she was in the spotlight of Kenji.
"Hey.." She replied awkwardly as she had been the one caught laughing. "Don't be embarrassed, my future dudette!" Kenji replied, slinging his arm abruptly around her shoulder, and then a click went off, Brooklynn, the internet girl, had taken a picture of them. "Hey! I didn't say you could take that picture." Louise slipped away from Kenji.
"Please, delete it." Louise hated when her picture was taken, even if it was going to be a selfie with her and her sister. "Awe, come on! This is my first memory of Nublar," Brooklynn said. "Plus, it has me in it, so it looks a hundred times better!" Kenji exclaimed as he walked over to the Jeep where all the other campers with in. Louise sighed, following after Kenji to get into the flatbed of the Jeep.
Shoulder, shoulders...Her shoulder, something was broken, even if she wasn't moving, she could definitely feel something wasn't right. It was absolutely broken in two or more pieces...It was broken but how could have fixed it? If she would even survive, what could she find on this island that would help her? Dave and Roxie mentioned that there were first aid kits around Main Street, but who knows how far Louise was from that....and what good could they do for her depending on how bad her injuries were?
She should have never put her name on that orange ticket, she should've never begged her mom for the money, she should've never handed it to that man. She never wanted to here the words "Raffle" or "Ticket" ever again. Still laying there, but her mind was working, her muscles and nerves felt the pain...the pain left by the predator....The pain the she almost couldn't bare but had no choice but to live with it. Something she always had to do.
