Morning. She blinked and it was that. She had fallen asleep on her side and woken up on her back with her right arm lain across her forehead (to most likely block out the sun). She took a deep yawn before slowly fluttering her eyes open. It felt like she hadn't slept long, and she didn't want to get up. At all.
It felt like that they weren't even moving themselves, or maybe that was just on the account of the clear skies and calm waters. Her entire body felt like it's in this sleepy trance and it's familiar but all unfamiliar at the same time. "Louise," Ben peered over her.
"Are you awake?"
"Mm," She groaned. "What is it?"
"Well, we're all pretty hungry. Kenji should take a break from sailing so Darius decided that it's breakfast, but also maybe lunch...." Ben trailed off.
"And I know you haven't eaten since Sammy was poisoned."
"We all haven't." She commented with a murmur.
"My point exactly," He nodded. "I came over to see if you were awake. We don't eat without each other."
"I know." She murmured before stretching only her right arm out. "Come on," Ben took her stretched out arm and helped her stand up. "You can get first pick of the mangoes,"
"You're making me feel like an old man on a walker." Louise mentioned as he guided her down the deck.
"Did you get any sleep?"
He ignored her question instantly. "Hey, guys! Look who's finally awake!" Ben joyfully introduced.
She barely chuckled, "Did I really sleep that long?" as she examined the platter of fruit. Mangoes, coconuts, berries and the canned stuff too.
"You slept longer than Sammy, which is saying a lot." Yasmina commented as Sammy came around the corner. "Hey, I heard that! But, oh, are we really off the island?" She asked with a plate in her hands.
"Or is this a dream?"
"If it were a dream, I'm thinking we'd have a change of clothes." Yasmina replied smoothly. "Ha! What do you mean? I've always wanted a signature look." Ben chimed in, gesturing to himself before holding his hands to his hips proudly. "Ben's right, it's not like he flaunts around in his bandana every day!" Louise flicked the side of his head as they all laughed.
They all sat down and picked up a plate, "Oh, Lou, your knife! And I've got the rock!" Sammy exclaimed. "Hm, right." She quickly stood back up and spun around to reach the knife in her pocket.
"I'm really going to miss the freshest mangoes out there," She said, picking up one and peeling.
"And Kenji's-...." Her grip tightened on the fruit.
"And I'm gonna what?"
".....gonna miss his coconut water." Her voice suddenly hardened as she tossed the redish skin aside harshly. "Hey, no littering!" Brooklynn exclaimed.
She passed the mango she was peeling to Sammy, who slid the rock and a coconut over to Kenji.
She passed another to Yaz, and a third to Ben. Darius oddly declined her offer, so she ate his instead. "You're not gonna ask if-" Sammy began before Yasmina nudged her. Louise sat down beside her and Sammy, eating her mango silently.
"And now- for the main course..." Ben came around the corner sharply, holding a plate up high in the air.
"The plumpest, and the juiciest..."
"Nublar grubs!" They all cringed in disgust.
"Hand selected by yours truly," Ben picked one off from the plate, a trial of slime forming as they separated. "Thank you for your sacrifice,"
