7) disapointment is a part of life

Riley's pov
I walk into my new room and I looked at all the pictures that were suddenly there. Maya or my mom must have taken them. Me and Lucas. Me and the kids. Lucas and the kids. And the one that hurt most there was a picture of right after Alexis was born. I thought back to that day.
Flashback
"You did it." like me Maya was out of breath. The doctor said I could have one person in the room with me. My mom was on her way, my dad was at work, auggie was at school, Farkle was stuck on the train, and the father had no idea about any of this. Well, he did but...."Maya. please come with me." I was scared and Maya was the only one I knew I could trust. She stuck by me the whole way. It was hours until I heard the wail of the little girl. "Here she is. Your baby girl." I was handed the baby and smiled. I looked to my right to see a smiling Maya. I looked to my left and found no one. "Do you have a name?" The nurse asked. "Yes. Alexis rose." I replied. "Alright. You can have visitors now." The nurse said as she left. Within seconds of that my mom, dad, brother, and Farkle were in the room asking questions. Then after all those were answered auggie asked "who's the father? You haven't told us." "Well... ok. It's-" I was really about to say it when Lucas walked in. "Hi everyone." He was smiling. "Well?" Maya pleaded. "Another time." And with that the conversation was dropped for a few months....

I walked to the door and locked it. I then sat on the bed and sobbed my self to sleep. I woke up about an hour later. "Crap. I need to make dinner." Picking up my phone to search quick Recipes. I look at the clock. 5:30. Maya's family will be here in exactly one hour. "Disappointment is a part of life." I wanted to cry again. Going into the bathroom I fixed my makeup, changed my clothes, and actually smiled for the first time, at my self, at anything really, since Alexis was born. Other than her I had no reason too. As the door swung open "disappointment." I mumble plastering a fake smile walking into the kitchen getting ready for the kids to make their pizzas. I had just fed Alexis and put her to bed. Lucas and I finished our pizzas just as they got here. "Heyo" Maya yelled as she entered. "Hi" Lucas and I yelled back. He smiled towards me. I looked away. "Disappointment." I say under my breathe. "What?" He asked with concern. "Nothing.... it's....its....nothing.....really." I end it with another fake smile.
