Chapter 142: Lucas

This whole chapter will be from Sig's POV.

"Oi! Time to take a break! It's hot today so make sure you guys stay hydrated, okay?"

"Everyone! There are some drinks here! Come here!"

I was playing with the brats when I felt thirsty so I raised my voice to tell the brats to take a break for a moment. I had to make sure they had enough to drink otherwise they might collapse from playing. Quick to grasp the situation, one of the teachers already had a basket full of water bottles. The teacher called for the brats to come over there under the shade of a tree.

"Lucas, huh. I see you've become accustomed to being a 'sensei', huh?"

"Ahaha.... How long do you think I've been working here?"

I picked up Connie, who was beside me, in my arms and took him with me under the shade of the tree. Lucas, a fellow wolf beastman like me was already waiting for us there. Lucas used to be one of the orphans in here and he originally left the orphanage to become an adventurer but about a year ago, he got injured so he returned back to the orphanage and then he had been working here ever since.

Just like Malik-san, while his injuries didn't pose any trouble for his daily activity, it was still difficult for him to continue working as an adventurer without a little bit more rehabilitation. Since Lucas and I were the same age, we were both a wolf beastman too and we had similar personalities, we had always been treated like a pair in the orphanage.

"Lucas-sensei, please give me more tea."

"Oh, here you go. Be careful when you drink it, okay?"

"Thank you."

After I put Connie down, he went trotting to where Lucas was and asked for a drink. Lucas then told him to sit there if Connie wanted to drink his tea.

"It's been a while since I last move my body like this~"

"You're right. Except when we're on the job, we're pretty much...."

"But Chris-ani and the others are really strong, right?!"

Chris and Fer were coming over here too, followed by a bunch of other kids. I had been worried if the two of them could handle those orphaned brats since Fer and Chris were raised with silver spoons but contrary to my worry, the two of them were able to deal with the brats better than I expected. I was glad to see they were having fun with the brats.

"Fufu~ My job as an adventurer is not just for show, you know? I have a pretty high physical ability."

Fer said while smiling as he patted Mikal's head who was walking beside him.

"Then let's do it again after this break!"

That brat, Mikal. I guess he doesn't know Fer is a prince. I mean, that brat is nonchalantly punching Fer's back like that.

"No can do, okay? After you're done with your break, you need to go back to your room to have a snack. If you don't then I will eat your share, okay?"

Lucas reprimanded Mikal, who was still eager to play some more.

"What?! No no! I want to have a snack!"

Mikal immediately panicked when Lucas said that.

Well, Mikal is still 10 so I guess a snack is very important for him.

"Then drink your tea properly.... Prince, Chris-san, it's been a while."

"Lucas.... I always told you to stop calling me a prince, didn't I?"
