Chapter 169:A Surprising Request at Katya Village

"Is that the village just before Tameran Desert?"

"Yeah, that's right~ That's Kacha Village~ It's a village that almost everyone who's planning to cross the desert stops by, you know~"

Our journey went swimmingly without encountering any monsters. Three days after departing from Pedrel, the village located before Tameran Desert finally came into view this morning. We slowed down our pace, to the point the horses were galloping instead and made our way toward the village.

Chris-san, who was riding on top of William with me, had told me about this village before we went on our journey. I recalled the world map I had seen at Malik-san's house and at the guild.

Tameran Desert was located within the borders of Aspel Kingdom but it was located close to the national border. If you went beyond Tameran Desert, you would reach Borotov Forest, the place where Ljudmila-san lived, and after passing through the forest, you would reach Varfort Kingdom. Varfort Kingdom was the hometown of Klaudios-san, who gave me my infamous nickname.

"After crossing the desert, we would reach the forest where Ludmila lives, right?"

If my memory serves me right, that should be the case but I'm not too confident so I thought I'd ask Chris-san for sure.

"Yeah~ Not many people enter that forest but there are some people who pass through it to reach the neighboring country~"

"Most of the border of Varfort Kingdom is surrounded by Borotov Forest. If you want to reach Varfort Kingdom through Borotov Forest, crossing Tameran Desert will be the fastest route. There are other paths but it's a pretty long detour compared to going through the forest directly..."

I see. Based on the map that I remembered, I thought the only path available is through Borotov Forest but it turns out you can also go along the edge of the forest if you really don't want to enter the forest. I'd like to visit Ljudmila-san one day if I could...

"Alright, we're going to arrive at the village soon. Although this place is called a 'village' but there are quite a lot of people here so the inns here are better than the one in Baunov Village. You know, the village we went to during Calhea request?"

As we were proceeding leisurely while engaging in a small talk, we finally arrived near the entrance of the village. Sig-san, who had been leading at the front, dismounted from Oscar in one swift, graceful motion.

Following suit, Chris-san, who had been riding behind me, also dismounted from the horse and then helped me down. Likewise, Fer-san also dismounted from his horse and started walking toward the village while holding onto Viktor's rein.

"Hello big brothers over there! Are you looking for a place to stay tonight?~"

As soon as we entered the village, a boy immediately darted out from behind the shadows of the buildings and started offering an inn for us to stay at. He had short, greenish brown hair with freckles adorning his cheeks and nose. He was about 10 cm shorter than me.

Umm... Based on the standard of this world.. He's probably around 10 years old?

"Oh, yeah. Are you from this village? I guess it will be a great help if you can show us an inn-"

"Sure! I can guide you no problem! But big brothers, are you guys adventurers? What's your rank?"

Sig-san, who was standing the closest to the boy, nodded and voiced his intention to be guided to an inn. However, the boy seemed intent on checking whether we were adventurers first or not. He even asked what our rank was...?

"Hm? All four of us are A-rank adventurers but what about it?"

"Ah, I see. Then I will guide you to the village chief's place. It's right in front of an inn."
