The memories of their time in the Kalos region had always held a special place in Ash's heart. As he sat on the couch, waiting for Serena to return home from work, he couldn't help but reflect on one particular aspect of their journey that weighed heavily on his mind.

Ash's voice was filled with regret as he explained, "Back in Kalos, I didn't realize your feelings for me. I was so focused on battles and becoming a Pokémon Master that I didn't see what was right in front of me."

Serena blinked, processing his words. "Ash, that was so long ago," she said gently, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We've grown and changed since then. You don't need to apologize for anything."

Ash looked up at Serena, his eyes pleading for forgiveness. "But I should've noticed, Serena. I should've been there for you in the way you deserved."

Serena smiled warmly, her affection for him evident. "Ash, you were always there for me in your own way. You supported my dreams, and you've been an amazing friend and partner. That's what matters."

She knelt down beside him, cupping his face in her hands. "You don't need to be punished for something that's in the past. We've created so many wonderful memories together, and I wouldn't change a thing."
