Many to most people have an agenda, or at least one or more philosophies.

I get it.  "State rights" versus "federal rights."  "Conservative" versus "liberal."

Peanut butter versus Spam.  Dogs versus cats.  Gerbils versus hamsters.

People who are correct versus . . . all of the rest of us zombies. :)

And me versus myself.

Thing is, [sic] fear and anxiety have a way of clouding human judgement.  And sometimes I have realized that I have prejudices that I didn't know that I had.

It's easy to say, "I'm more conservative than liberal," or vice versa.  Or, [sic] "I oppose the ___ agenda."  Fill in the blank!

But what if the "opposition" has an idea (or active policies) that benefits oneself -- either directly or in directly?

I could shout from a bully pulpit "I am conservative!"  Meanwhile, in truth, my very existence, and lifestyle, is nearly 100% dependent on liberal and/or progressive policies.

A lot of people would call that being a hypocrite.  And I would have to agree with them.

Would it then be closer to A Truth to say that I support policies that work to benefit myself -- and my loved ones?  Is this equally selfish and honest?

Here's another potential hypocrisy:

How can I think of myself as a "peacemaker" . . . when I can tell you many clever little ideas for modifying tools of mass destruction?

Hmmm.

My first serious go at conceptualizing an effective nuclear [fusion] power plant was scuttled for safety reasons.

I've avoided revisiting my largest attempt at a space opera partly because I wanted to double check the social, political, and military ramifications of my proposed technology.

Ok.  So [sic] I do [have] some verifiable track record of social consciousness.

My country is facing several crises.  Although I may be standing on a foundation made out of quicksand...

I am standing.

I love my country.  Let's build on that as a foundation.  Plus [sic] I love all of you.  Plus [sic] I love my God.

Huh.

Methinks that castles in the clouds have been erected on shakier ground than this.

Just past midnight.  Macbeth Raymondovich, signing off.
