Note: I did finish this project on 15 January, [sic] 2021.  Due to length, I then split the last entry into 2 parts.  Let me conclude by stating the following:

"I am both guarded and cautiously optimistic about the state of the Union during, and after, this important time in the history of my country."

Like all of us, I also need to move forward with my eyes -- and my heart -- wide open.

**

This is likely to be my last entry in this current project.  Why?  After all, it's not likely that the USA is out of political turmoil just yet.  There may be signs that another round of "revenge politics" is gearing up.  Likewise [sic] there is likely to be retribution levied at various "pro-Trump" people and factions.

I hope that we don't see something like McCarthyism* sprout up.

To reference a Biblical principle, what have we to gain if we fight evil with evil?

*{McCarthyism: probably not a term that many people understand.  It happened during the 1950s.  Many people were blacklisted just for being suspected of being a "communist."  Many were, in fact, innocent.  Comparing it to a government sanctioned, 20th Century "witch-hunt" is -- in my opinion -- appropriate.

 [(26 October 2023: Did I mean 21st Century instead of "20th Century?"  Hmm.)]

{I am honestly concerned that present political fracturing in the USA may spawn multiple variations on McCarthyism -- in both the public and private sectors.}

[During the Cold War, being labeled a "communist" in the USA was like being labeled a "witch" during the Inquisition.  The primary difference being that burning people alive was not a common practice.]

* Now, to REALLY highlight how UTTERLY absurd the USA's present situation could get, please allow me to ruthlessly lampoon it!

(After all, one could always slather a "commie" with gravy -- and then have them tickled into repentance . . . by locking them in a room with 10,000 ravenous puppies.)

Reference: The following was posted first on TTFNN: The Totally Fake News Network:

[Consider the term "un-American."  Is that related to "un-Canadian," "un-Norwegian," "un-Irish," or "un-Bolivian?"  Or is it related to "un-Black," "un-Gay," "un-Feminist," or even "un-Chipmunk?!"

[I mean, picking on cute, adorable Chipmunks!!  How low will some people sink?!

[It's totally un-American to be against chipmunks.  Ok, Ok!  Hating squirrels and the Easter Bunny is perfectly American.  But probably not llamas or alpacas -- because they are Hispanic, after all.

[Plus both llamas and alpacas are . . . uber-dangerous, man-eating, cannibalistic monsters -- which is the REAL reason for advocating for a wall between the USA and Mexico.]

(I heard that a llama tried to eat a Japanese college student who once boarded with a sister of mine.  Which is why he gained the unfortunate nickname of "Llama Lips" -- but I digress.)  Unfortunately, this is actually almost true.  I think that the incident happened at a game farm in [delete -- too specific].

Anyway, the part about "Llama Lips" is [100%, irrevocably, totally] true -- poor fellow. :)
