The Wisdom of a Fool

"I'm no angel;" 6/29/2021.

I have 12 siblings.  Meaning that my parents had 13 children, at least that survived.

My Dad has many faults (being human, this is understandable).  One thing he once said is presently cogent:

"You don't let a six-year-old run the household."

Having been in close proximity to at least 13 6-year-olds, I'm inclined to believe that his words of warning might be wisdom.

You don't let a six-year-old run the household: words of wisdom from a mere mortal, like you and me.

Yet there are those who claim that "spirit guides" (or other such entities) want us to believe that we humans are ready to become gods: the next stage in our evolution.

First, let us assume that "human evolution" is indeed a real thing.

**Do you really, truly, utterly believe that we have mastered even the last 2 (two) stages in our evolution?

**Do you really, truly, utterly believe that we remotely understand what our present stage of evolution even is?

Now: does every single human alive actually agree with your answers — whether you have any or not?

Now, does everyone - On The Planet - lockstep agree what the next stage in our evolution MUST Be?  Not should be — but must be?  Logically, would you consider yourself sane if you were to blindly agree with that assessment?

Question: Am I insulting your intelligence?  Possibly.  So let me insult my own intelligence and integrity.

#1: I am wise enough to consider myself a fool.  Additionally, I do not have the authority to consider you to be a fool.

#2: Being a fool, I am wise enough to know that I am closer to being a demon than to being an angel.  For me to "evolve" into godhood would then be a cataclysm of beyond Biblical proportions.

#3: I am wise enough to know to that I should not become a god.  And paranoid enough to believe that neither should you.

That stated quite honestly, if you are worthy of "godhood," then who (or what) am I to think otherwise?  However, have you even read the job requirements?  Here, for your approval, are only the first 2 of a very long list:

A)  Infinite hours — with no vacations or pay.  Not even a thank-you-note.

B)  Unbearable heartbreak and sorrow.

Still want the job?

Frankly, I am not evil enough to wish either on anyone, not even my worst enemy.  Who happens to be Satan.  (Maybe you've heard of him.)  And he actually wants the job!

Hmm.  Maybe I'm a wee bit closer to being like an angel than I give myself credit for — but I'm not betting my Eternity on that.

**And neither should you.

"Still no angel;" 6/29/2021.

On the subject of spirit-guides:

Amongst humans, there exist liars and charlatans and sociopaths.

Amongst the natural, there are predators, prey, and parasites.

**How unwise then is it to proclaim that — amongst the supernatural — that we mere mortals are on the top of the food chain?

Would you tell a truly beloved toddler to blindly trust every single known pedophile and sadist?

Of course not!  We tell them not to trust ANY "stranger!"

Yet we are to believe every, single entity that tells us precisely what we want to hear?  And we are obliged to tell everyone else to do likewise?

What then is the shadow of wisdom cast by a known fool?  What then are the demands of entities foolish enough to insist that we consider them wise — simply because they say so?

[Italics added for emphasis.  13 December 2023.]

At least God offers concrete proofs of His wisdom — even if we choose to disagree.  And we frequently choose to disagree!  You see, God has no problems telling us what we do not want to hear.

"You do not let a six-year-old run the household."

Nor does God let humans run the universe unchecked and unsupervised.  Any entity that promises humanity free reign is not a loving, responsible guide.

Look.  Even if you do not like or trust God...

Then why automatically trust entities that are clearly irresponsible — even when compared to marginally competent human parents?

We humans are not ready for godhood.  We are not remotely close.  Besides, any wise entity would know that helping less-wise beings attain higher authority must not be done prematurely.

Helping humanity "evolve" would only harm humanity in the long run.

***

Let me put this another way:

**To become, first be.

To become gentler, be gentle.

To become kinder, be kind.

To become more patient, be patient.

. . .

To become a better person, be a better person.

This... is enlightenment!  Why make it any more complicated than that?

*

Now, you may be thinking, "But I'll never be 'good enough!'"

I would have to agree with you.  Here then is a little secret:

In and of yourself, you don't have to be!

(Beyond this point in this chapter, I could be rightly accused of "preaching."  While I'm not adverse to doing so, others might be.  In any case, I don't claim to be anything more or less than a priest.  Or a fool.  What then is the use of men like me if we do not at least aspire to be lights in a dark place?)

Note: If there are to be any more chapters, they are liable to get quite personal.  I am almost 60. In this mortal coil, I logically have fewer years ahead of me than I have behind me.  My youth is far spent, yet I am but a child in this universe!

That which is not busy living is busy dying, and I have yet breath.  Let tomorrow come as it may, with all of its promise and tribulation.  Tuesday, June 29 2021.  Signing off.
