Chapter 6- Written in the fruit.
Eirawen turned and fled, she felt certain that at that last fleeting second Morgana had seen her, or sensed her. She hurried back along through the corridors until she found her room and hurried inside locking the door behind her. She flopped down on the bed panting, trying to process what she had just seen; Morgana, in Nilemah, discussing some plan with another figure. A million and one questions were bubbling insider her head all desperate for an answer. What was Morgana planning? Who was that figure? As she lay there thinking a breeze blew through the open window and floating on it was a small piece of paper. Eirawen caught it and opened it out and read;
'If you dare speak a word of anything you saw tonight then I will kill him.'
Eirawen put the note down with trembling hands. Who did they mean by 'him'? Eldred probably; but then again, what if it was Gwaine? She couldn't understand the terrible pain in her chest when she thought it could be Gwaine, Eldred was her husband and Gwaine had betrayed her, why should she care for him more than Eldred? Suddenly she heard footsteps outside and then a knock at her door. "M'lady?" The voice of Lila her maid called. "Oh sorry, I'm coming." Eirawen called quickly getting to her feet tossing the letter into the fire on her way to unlock the door. "Are you alright M'lady? You look ever so pale." Lila asked as she closed the window.
"I'm fine." Eirawen said with a small smile. "And how many times do I have to ask you to call me Eirawen?" She said and Lila blushed slightly.
"But it's not my place m'lady." She said.
"It is if I say it is. Come on I call you Lila and so you should call me Eirawen." Lila smiled. "Ok." She said quietly as she tucked her jet black hair behind her ear.
"Good." Eirawen said taking her maids dark hand in her pale one. "Now come and help me choose a dress for the coronation." She said and Lila smiled back.
Gwaine, Leon, Percival and Elyan were all sat in Gwaine's room in heated conversation. "So let me get this straight, the king is dead?" Elyan asked.
"And not a moment too soon." Gwaine muttered.
"Merlin believes it was sorcery but the prince is blaming Arthur." Percival explained.
"I take it this means the peace treaty is off." Gwaine said and Percival nodded grimly.
"I guess so." Gwaine sighed and flopped back onto the bed.
"Which means all this was a waste of time." He moaned.
"So, are we going back to Camelot?" Leon asked looking up from where he sat by the window gazing out at the sky. "No, we are staying until this mess is sorted apparently." Percival said and Leon slumped back and returned his gaze to the window. Percival sighed. "Leon, she is going to be ok, why are you worrying so much?" He asked but Leon didn't reply. Just then Merlin burst through the door panting. "Ar...Arth...Arthur...wants... you all...his chambers...now...very angry." Merlin panted before dropping down onto the bed almost crushing Gwaine. "Why? Why are you out of breath?" Gwaine asked.
"Arthur...angry...so many stairs." Merlin said and Gwaine grinned.
"I see. Well you better go and tell him we are coming then." Merlin stared at Gwaine wide eyed. "But...but...stairs." Merlin stuttered before seeing the grin Gwaine was trying to hold back and sighing. "I hate you." He muttered and Gwaine grinned.
