Chapter 21 – The Blood Moon

Gwaine slammed his hand onto the stone slab in frustration but it was no use, Merlin was sealed tight on the other side. “Gwaine! Go! Find Eirawen! I will be fine!” Merlin yelled through the stone wall. “But-” Gwaine started.
“Now!” Merlin yelled and Gwaine pulled at his hair.
“I am coming back.” He said quietly to himself. “I am coming back for you!” He yelled before turning on his heels and running off down the dark corridors in search of Eirawen.

Gwaine found himself in a large open room with an open roof. The stars were still shining in the darkness above him. Near the centre of the room was a stone table, and on this table lay the girl he was looking for. He began to walk towards her, a smile creeping onto his face. Suddenly however he stopped, this was too easy. He placed a hand on the hilt of his sword as he surveyed around him. “Morgana?” He called. “I know you’re here!” Suddenly soft lips tickled his ear and the sound of quiet giggles filled his ears. Gwaine froze, his hand gripping the sword tighter. “Hello again, Sir Knight.” She whispered, her lips brushing softly against his ear. Suddenly Gwaine spun round, swinging his sword at Morgana. However her eyes flashed amber and before the blade could touch her she had send it flying across the room. “Show off.” Gwaine muttered.
“Sore loser.” Morgana said.
“Cheat.” Gwaine muttered and Morgana sighed.
“Have you just come here to pathetic name call or do you actually want something?” Morgana said casually. Gwaine suddenly remembered what he was doing and looked quickly over to Eirawen. “Ah yes, your little princess.” Morgana said smiling deviously as she began to walk over towards the sleeping Eirawen on the stone table. “Well I would love to but…there is something to be done.” Morgana said smiling as she came to a stop at the edge of the stone table. “Have you ever seen a blood moon Sir Knight?” She asked.
“Once or twice, why?” Gwaine asked curiously.
“They only happen once a year, on the same night. The moon shines a crimson red in the sky.” Morgana said, looking up at the night. “Do you know why?” She asked looking back to Gwaine. “Why?” Gwaine asked.
“The High Priestess’s.” She said with a smile as she drew out a sharp knife like dagger that looked like a long, triangular, shard of ice. “The blood from a sacrifice spills out to fill the moon.” Morgana told him smiling. Gwaine’s pupils dilated in shock and fear as Morgana raised the dagger up above Eirawen’s chest as she slept, he just stood there, helpless and rooted to the spot. “And now, Sir Knight, it’s time your princess did me a little favour.” Morgana said, a glint in her eye as the moon light glittered off the knife as it began to fall.

Rosa watched Arthur directing the knights to do some strange fighting thing (which seemed to just involve running about like headless chickens to her), from her window; sat on the windowsill, gazing out of the glass. Suddenly she felt his strong arms wrap around her and a smile spread over her face. “Leon!” She said playfully trying to stop his arms from crushing her. “Aren’t you meant to be out there?” She asked, still gazing out of the window. “Not when I can be here, with you.” He said, his lips tickling her ear. “Both of you.” He said smiling as he placed a hand on her belly. “You are going to be the best mother ever.” He said and she smiled.
“You think so?” She asked leaning back into his chest.
“I know so.” He told her, kissing her softly on the head. “Gaius told me it’s not long now.” Leon said beginning to rub her belly.
“I know.” Rosa said distantly.
“Have you any ideas on names?” Leon asked and she smiled.
“A few.” She said with a secretive smile.
“Aww tell me!” Leon said with the pleading tone of a child that made Rosa laugh.
“I thought, if it is a boy, you should decide, girl I decide.” She said and Leon nodded. “Alright. I am sure it will be beautiful whatever we decide.” He said. “It will be the most beautiful child ever, with such a beautiful mother, how could it not…and also having a very handsome father too.” Leon said smiling.
“Oi! Have you never heard of modestly!” Rosa said hitting him playfully on the arm. “Are you saying you disagree?” Leon asked, smirking as she blushed.
“Oh shut up.” She said leaning up and kissing him. “I love you.” She whispered when she pulled away. Leon smiled, their noses just inches apart. “I love you more.”

Merlin had cast a small bubble like shield to form around him, temporarily saving him from the skulls. He watched as they continued to throw themselves towards him and he felt a chill down his spine. There was something about watching disembodied skulls throwing themselves towards you in an attempt to eat you alive that made his blood run cold. Suddenly there was a loud sound of rock grating against rock and Merlin felt the slab of rock he was leaning on being to rise upwards. A smile crept over Merlin’s face as he wait for Gwaine to appear, however it soon faded as the figure came into sight, a figure he had thought he would never see again. “Cally?” Merlin chocked out before he could stop himself. Cally smiled, “Hello again, Merlin.”

“Morgana!” Gwaine yelled and Morgana smiled stopping the dagger so it was just hovering over Eirawen’s heart. “Problem Sir Knight?” Morgana asked.
“Leave, her, alone.” Gwaine said warningly.
“Why?” Morgana asked him.
“Because if you harm her, I will kill you.” Gwaine threatened.
“Oh will you now dear, well that’s just charming.” Morgana said looking down to Eirawen. “Let her go.” Gwaine said his tone stern and dangerous.
“For what price?” Morgana asked looking back up at Gwaine.
“Price?” Gwaine asked.
“What will you give me if I return her to you safe and sound?” Morgana asked and Gwaine stared at her. “What price are you willing to pay for your princess?”
