Struggling to climb through her window she huffed to see the time was at least six-twenty-four. Panicking she squirmed more and slipped off her shoes then stripped off her coat, and just simple plopped into her bed to close her eyes. Echo actually wished she could sleep, and when the door opened Echo peeked to see it was Andrew who was at the door.

“No school today, a sudden teacher’s conference was issued.” Andrew yawned and closed the door. Echo couldn’t believe her sudden luck, and then she silently thanked the air then snuggled into her blankets to blissfully fall asleep.

**

“BOO!!” A voice shouted into Echo’s ears causing her to flinch then fall off her bed, “Over reaction much?”

She looked up to see her older brother Andrew, and so she plopped her head back down on the floor then groaned in annoyance, “What time is it?”

“It’s dinner time, Alex made chicken broccoli noodles with chopped potatoes.”

“Quite the combination.” She muttered while looking to the side, and since she wasn’t getting up anytime soon. Andrew grasped her arms and lunged her over his shoulder then carried her like a sack of flour down the stairs.

“I have the captive!” He hollered in a deep voice then walked into the kitchen using big steps and grinned to see Alex rolling his eyes.

“Put her down so we can eat.” Alex sighed already slurping noodles.

“Hey! Don’t hog all the food!” Andrew accused while setting her down and got his own portions of food while Echo huffed now on the floor, and got up to join her family for their evening meal. While eating, the boys were talking about how their days went.

“How was your day Andrew?” Echo questioned after listening how Alex only cleaned the house since he got a day off from school, he was working to be a lawyer so that they could make a decent amount of money. Since he was twenty-two years old while Andrew was only twenty.

“Me? Well, today after school I was outside most of the time playing Rugby with my friends; Zeak, Erik and Jared.” He explained to her while moving his fork around his plate.

“Jared?” She questioned not knowing who he was, she only knew about Zeak and Erik since they were the ones who were over often.

“Jared is a new kid at school who we befriended quickly, he’s cool. I’m planning to have him over tomorrow.” Andrew continued while watching for her reaction, but she only nodded wondering who ‘Jared’ could be.

“There better not be any making out in this house.” Alex muttered only to receive a piece of potato at his face.

“Alex!” Andrew’s eyes were wide with disgust, “Ew!” He exclaimed as Alex couldn’t contain his laughter, even Echo was trying to hide her smile.

“What? Just saying.” Alex trailed on only to receive another potato thrown at him.

“Food fight!” Echo exclaimed and soon food was being playfully thrown at each other as laughter filled the kitchen. Andrew grinned slyly and put a handful of noodles in Echo’s hair as she squealed, but she couldn’t be angry at them since this was a close moment of theirs’.

“Look at this mess.” Alex sighed now tired and covered with food while Echo and Andrew only stood there trying to contain their last fit of giggles.

“But it was worth it.” Andrew spoke deeply while placing his hand on top of Echo’s head only to squish the noodles and potato in her hair.

“Echo, go take a shower while Andrew and I clean up.”

“Yes sir!” She quickly saluted and scampered out of the room grinning since she lucked out again, she didn’t have to clean that overwhelming mess.

“What?!” Andrew nearly squeaked in protest but only received a stern look from Alex so Andrew groaned while picking up a rag and began to clean the mess while muttering frustrated.

“Good boy.” Alex smirked and brought out the broom with a sigh.

Echo sighed while putting on her shirt now feeling clean and fresh, she was content about her evening but remembered that she would be having school tomorrow. She never did look forward to school since it seemed to always be a burden, but after much lectures about how education is important in a child’s life she gave up. Sometimes school could be enjoyable, but there were a handful of teachers that actually liked to have fun when teaching, and so learning would be enjoyable.

“You done?” Alex knocked on the door while looking over his shoulder to see Andrew looking grumpy after all that cleaning.

“Yeah, just give me a second.” She replied and soon the door opened, she smiled to both of them then walked down the hall to get to bed. Echo wouldn’t go to bed just yet, and when entering her room she stopped frozen in her tracks. Sitting on her bed was a white creature; Classy. The said cat perked her ears up and looked up to see Echo standing there in the doorway. So Classy stretched for a moment then walked over to Echo in greeting. Echo quickly closed her door then kneeled down to Classy’s height.

“How did you get here?” Echo questioned Classy in wonder and pet her only to receive a purr. Looking around she tried to find an open window or at least something, but she found nothing. Continuing to pet Classy she began to actually observe Classy, she seemed to have human traits. It seemed that Classy could understand what you’re actually saying to her, and that she understood feelings of another.

“Echo?” A voice entered her ears so she looked back towards her door and froze, quickly looking over to Classy she motioned for the cat to hide under her bed. Classy’s ear twitched then she trotted to under the bed not exactly happy to be under a bed, especially when there was dust.

“Yeah?” Echo questioned while opening the door only so much.

“Who were you talking to?” Andrew appealed while looking around from where he was and handed Echo her brush when she left it in his room.

“My bed.” She quickly replied and received an odd look from Andrew.

“And what did the bed say?”

“That ‘I was always here’.” She blinked, and for a moment she thought Andrew would leave her alone but he furrowed his eyebrows together and walked himself into her room then scanned the room.

“There aren’t any ‘boys’ here, are there?”

“Would you seriously think that a boy would like me?” Echo spoke as if it were obvious, and the look from Andrew he knew that he had said something stupid.

“Look-”

“I know, you’re just being a big brother, and I appreciate that but you really need to leave. I’m tired, and you know how I am in the mornings.” She huffed while pushing at his back trying to get him out of her room, but she was having no progress since he just laughed at her feeble strength.

“Oh no! It’s Godzilla awakening!” He mocked while taking big steps out of the room causing a ruckus. Closing her door after he left she huffed in annoyance.

“I swear one day I will get him back.” Looking over to the clock she sighed seeing that it was past ten, then she crouched down to see Classy laying there not looking to be exactly the happy camper, “You can come out now.” With a nod Classy got out from under the bed then sat there looking expectant.

“What?” Echo blinked now wondering what Classy wanted, but then out of curiosity she opened her arms only to have Classy jump into her arms, “Oh wow, I see that you like attention.” Echo smiled lightly while Classy rubbed the top of her head against Echo’s chin, with a sigh Echo sat down on her bed while petting Classy.

“Let’s go to bed, hm?” She suggested while Classy nodded, and so Echo got comfortable under the blankets while Classy curled into a ball while on the other pillow Echo had, “Good night Classy.”
