Laces seemed to be slowly growing out of his puppy stage. He still loved to play and go for walks and all that but he was definitely more mature. Instead of running around and trying to chew on random props or whatever the young pup could find, he would now spend most of the hours napping on the carpet. It was still hard but Quentin had gotten a tad bit used to the emptiness of the building. It seems as if they aren't coming back.

He promised himself that he would eventually work on things connected to his brilliant plan but not just yet. The man had become hyper-fixated on dogs and he was determined to finish the project that he started a year ago. Overtime he had the build correct he just needed to work out the inside. It kept buzzing and sparking and that would just not do.

After hours of fixing up loose wires and reprogramming code that just didn't seem to be working.. Quentin was  so sure that this one would work. He gave a little whistle to get the pup's attention who stretched and yawned before waddling over to him. He gestured for the canine to sit before turning to the side to grab the device.

"Okay," He started, "Speak."

The beagle politely sat down before giving a jolly 'ruff'! Quentin looked down at the screen of the technology. It didn't feel like it was overheating which was a good side. The waiting animation played until  some text began to appear.

Hello!

Quentin tilted his head to the side. On one hand this could be correct but on the other it could just be something random.

"Okay.." He paused, resetting the device. "Speak again."

Laces let out another bark that had a slight tone to it. The man looked down and read the translation.

Why?

Okay, still could be a guess but the context kind of fits He thought to himself. He needed a home run to really confirm if it was actually translating or not. Beck thought of something that his friend could understand.

"Laces, how are you?"

The animal tilted his head in confusion before answering with a whine and a few barks.

Fine, why?

Quentin was understandably taken aback when he read the sentence. Holy shit. He had done it.

"Oh my God.." He whispered before exclaiming it louder. "Oh my God!!"

The Beagle barked in reaction to the man's random burst of energy. The device picked it up and truly confirmed the success.

What?! Why are you yelling??

I'm a god-damn genius!! He shouted internally. Quentin set the tech down before bending down to pick Laces up gently and do a happy little spin while continuing to voice his success. You could call it stimming as he wasn't exactly aware that he was this overjoyed. Laces still wasn't sure what was going on but Quentin seemed happy so he left it alone or more accurately tolerated the behavior.
